Charles Bradley and Duke Ellington
Today I have music for you by an artist whose music is some of the most antiquely soulful. Charles Bradley has been a musician for a long while, and brings such a wonderful sound to his music. Sadly enough, he wasn't really discovered till recent, but Charles Bradley has been singing for years without the help of record companies. However, now, he is making amazing albums, geared towards the music that got him interested in it all. Charles Bradley has a very interesting style of music, combing 70s funk with soul and R&B. More often than not, Charles Bradley's music features a lot of big band sounds and brass instruments. This allows him to make a grand point with his music, and these instruments are a great accompaniment to the deep and funky voice that he has. Now this is a very interesting song because it is actually the cover of a Black Sabbath song. Going from heavy and hard rock to something that is more jazzy and blusey is quite the turnaround. But Charles Bradley does it with so much class and talent. that the song is not only very well done, but arguably better than the original. You can hear the emotion and personal suffering that is poured into the song, and you can hear how the once heavy metal song is now a softer song. Charles Bradley does an amazing job with this cover. He took it and made it his own unique song. I think it is incredible to see and hear how people can create masterpieces out of others. Charles Bradley truly is a one-of-a-kind artists, and I hope everyone can realize how wonderful he is. Today's instrumental song is by one of the most incredible musicians and composers, Duke Ellington. Now this is a man who is one of the most celebrated musicians of all time. A composer, pianist, and jazz band leader, Duke Ellington made a huge impact on the world of music and to this day, is such an influence for many musicians of our time. Now what I love about this song is that we get to hear the jazzy end of pianos, the sound that I love the most. Piano jazz is a music genre that is most often associated with smoky bars or super fancy cocktail bars. There isn't really an in between there, but this kind of music has this special sound to it. This slower kind of jazz is smooth and suave, something that builds an atmosphere rather than just providing background music. And I love that so much, especially with this composition. We get this beautiful partnership between the saxophone and piano, both instruments playing a jazzy melody and harmony, singing to each other. This isn't a song that tells you how to feel because it tries to read the complexities of human emotion. This is neither a sad nor happy piece, but one that explores the different feelings we are capable of. That is something special to jazz. It is chaotic, and therefore, understands our own inner chaos. It's truly spectacular! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
