Chai Town and Aashiqui 2

Aaaaaand we are back and ready to roll with some new music your way! So this past weekend, I had the opportunity to meet up with and hang out with the artist group of the day. It seems that a capella has become a very popular and extremely entertaining style of music. What makes this style of music so different is that there are no other instruments other than vocal chords. That means everything you hear is done solely by singing or beat boxing. Now this is something that is very hard to do, and is something that the a capella group Chai Town does extremely well. Chai Town is an a capella group who also mashes up South Asian songs and Western songs, which I definitely am a fan of. Chai Town is an all male a capella group from Champagne, Illinois and is one of those groups that is very good at being low key. For the most part, Chai Town is a group that is extremely popular amongst the college crowd, which makes sense considering they are a college group. And while their popularity is astronomical in these little circuits, I would still consider them a bit underground. Will that change, well that remains to be seen. But for now, I really like where they are and what they are doing with their music. The mashups that they have come up with are extremely great especially since they bring together songs that most of us wouldn't think of putting together. Plus, their covers are stunning! Now this song is the first one I ever heard by them and it completely blew me away. This song is completely done in Hindi, but I was speechless by the time the song ended. I couldn't listen to anything else because this cover leaves you in a completely special state. It isn't necessarily a feeling of sadness that takes over you, but it is like this sense of letting all of that go, letting it finally wash away. It is that sensation you get when singing your heart out to that one song that understands you when you are feeling low. That is something incredibly special, something that cannot ever be put completely in words. Chai Town is the kind of group that definitely sings with heart, and that is something I love about their music. Definitely a group worth checking out! Today's instrumental song is from the Bollywood movie Aashiqui 2. Now I have not seen this movie, but can tell you that the songs alone are enough to make you emotional. This song is the title song, the song that really defines the movie. And it is possibly one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a long while. Bot the instrumental and vocal versions are full of the joys and pains of love, something that is hard to describe as wonderfully as this song does. While it does have a melancholy tone to it, there is something that is so ethereal about the song which makes it seem almost a big magical. And as weird as that may sound in writing, listening to the song makes everything kind of fall in place. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
