The Record Company and The Heavy

Today I have some rock music for you, but this is a unique kind of rock music. This song is one that is a mix of swing, jazz, country, and rock. Weird, I know. Confused as to how that might work? Don't be, because The Record Company totally nailed it. This is the kind of rock song that a live band would play at a bar show or a local live performance. That kind of gritty and energetic and rowdy sound that only comes with being slightly drunk is kind of what this song reminds me of. And I totally dig it! This song in particular was featured on one of my favorite television shows out there right now. Suits tends to have a pretty kick ass soundtrack. But this song is one of the songs that really caught my eye because it was so excitingly rowdy and wild. This is kind of what blues rock started out sounding like. I would love to see these guys perform this song live because I feel like it would be a hell of a performance. Even from this recorded song, I can tell that these guys sing with passion and soul and perform as a part of the music. They sound like an extension of music and that makes this song even better because you can really feel that energy. This is a band that has toured with some awesome artists that range in the soul, funk, and rock areas of music and I can clearly hear why. The guitar solo in this song is both blusey and folksy, but also has a jazzy twist to it. The vocals in this song are rough and strong which sounds absolutely phenomenal. This is just one of those songs you listen to over and over again because it is that good. Today's instrumental song is another song from the show Suits, BUT I have definitely heard this band prior to watching the show. I promise, not all my music comes from television shows. But The Heavy is a band that I am completely in love with because every song is different but still has this awesome vibe to it. The heavy really likes to use crunchy guitars and funky horns to make their music. I really like that though because it sets them apart from a lot of other bands out there. The Heavy likes to make their rock music have a soul to it, a kind of old school funk to it. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
