Sketchy Bongo & Shekhinah and Justin Bieber
Today I have music for you by the DJ known as Sketchy Bongo and the singer known as Shekhinah. I hadn't really heard of any of these artists till super recently, but I instantly fell in love. I mean to the point where I have listened this song over and over again and still love it. This song gets me up and wanting to dance and enjoy and have fun. Shekhinah has a really nice voice, one that is very strong and clearly powerful, but she has so much control over it. This control is evident with the way she uses her voice, going into the falsetto with ease and returning back to that clear and soulful voice. This song is one that I really appreciate and find so incredible for a couple of reasons. First of all, the general melody of the song is something that is super unique and diverse. It features the use of an Indian instrument called a tabla. This is the sound that you hear as a percussion, keeping the beat. It is the only drum-ish sound that you hear in this song. I seriously love that because it adds this really cool vibe to the song, making it something that is a little bit different but still fun and energetic. I wouldn't call it exotic, especially since I find myself around tablas quite often. But in this song, it does bring a nice unique and exotic flair, which I totally love. And the fact that the song pretty much opens up with that sound sets a very interesting tone for the song. It isn't something serious or dark, rather something that is chill but still has some energy to it. The entirety of this song is unlike anything I have heard, and that complete originality is something that is hard to find and very easy to appreciate. This song is all about balance, a good balance between the vocals, instrumental melody, and bass. Thankfully, the bass doesn't take over the rest of the instrumentals and provides a solid base for the actual song. The melody of this song is created more through synthesizers and keyboards. Of course we do have the beats being created with percussion such as the snare drum, kick drum, and tabla. I also love the fact that each kind of instrument has its own line that it follows, taking on different parts of the song. For example, the tabla melody doesn't follow the same sound as the drums in the song. I don't know why, but I found that really cool. Shekhinah of course kills it with her voice, not being too overbearing with her vocals, but making her presence very well known. Sketchy Bongo did an amazing job with this song and if the rest of his music is like this, I am going to be in love. This song is one that is unlike anything I have heard, and I love that. Today's instrumental song is the Latin remix of one of the most popular songs of the year. Justin Bieber has become such a huge star, especially with his new album. This Latin version lets us hear this song with a nice Latino and Spanish flair, something that is a lot of fun and exciting. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
