Jarryd James and Paul Cardall

Today I have some slower slightly darker music for you by an artist by the name Jarryd James. This is a song that has a very interesting a different sound to it, but still somehow has this more melancholy and grey scale kind of feel to it. Jarryd James is a mix of genres, having the depth and melancholy of artists like James Bay, but having the R&B sound of an artist like Justin Timberlake. His sound is extremely rich in genres, having a beautifully blended mix of R&B and electro pop sounds. When you mix that with Jarryd James' emotive lyrical content, this song is one that can definitely be felt through the core of your emotions. What I love about the song's lyrics is the fact that we look at more than one thing. Instead of focusing on what the other person in the relationship did, Jarryd James asks us to also look back and examine ourselves. He invites us to rethink the way we see a relationship, the way we look at the ones we loved. I personally love that because sometimes we forget that relationships are a two way street - it is a give and take between both sides of the relationship. He makes us look back at all the things we enjoyed in the pats relationships. The moments that we coveted, the ones that made us feel special, the ones we found indescribable. The deep feelings that run through us when in love are not created quickly. They grow and develop, becoming something truly unique and special. And this is why the lyrics in this song are so wonderful to me. Because the depth of the words is something that makes this song an extremely emotive and meaningful song. Jarryd James has such a lovely smoked voice, which makes the song sound passionate as well. His voice is so smooth but has this huskiness to it which adds so much more to the song. It also shrouds the song in the gloominess that the song deserves. This song has very precise percussion work in it, as well as eerie electronic melodies which come together to create this masterpiece of a song. Add on the vocal layerings that Jarryd James sings, and you have something that is truly original. And what is even more impressive, is how we artfully combines R&B and electronic melodies, while also giving the song a pop flair, making it something that the radios would sweep up and play. As  gloomy as the song is, it is one that has the ability to really make us feel things, and makes it something that has such a special beauty to it. Jarryd James is an artist that I am definitely keeping my eyes and ears on, because his music is something that really gets to my soul. Today's instrumental song is by the pianist and composer, Paul Cardall. This is a man who has composed some of the most beautiful pieces of modern music I have ever heard. This song is a very special and  heart warming one, as it is written about a little girl who passed away. This girl also gave Paul Cardall the heart he needed for a transplant, saving his life. This song is written for that girl, Gracie, and is a tribute to her short life and large sacrifice. This is a very lovely piece, one that is a spectacular homage to Gracie. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
