Kevin Garret and Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows

Today I have some music for you by the singer-songwriter known as Kevin Garret. This is the first song I heard by him, and I have to say, it left me in this beautiful state of melancholy and fragility. This is the kind of song that leaves you hoping that nothing shatters the silence that follows the end of the song because of how much of a soul hitting song it is. This is a gorgeously pained single, one that is full of heartbreak and loss. This is a song that poignantly walks through a relationship that is slowly disintegrating, scattering into the winds. This song is one that seems to reflect on that one moment in every relationship, the moment so vulnerable and fragile that one touch could splinter and shiver into millions of pieces. This song explores the thoughts and feelings that seem to rush through your body as this moment overwhelms you, telling us that we either know what we want or we don't. And Kevin Garret's mature and emotive voice passionately and vulnerably expresses these ideas. With a voice that tends to hang out in the falsetto range, Kevin Garret takes us on this journey, accompanied by soft drum work, a calm and quiet synth melody, and gentle guitar work. This song has a very nice instrumental progression going on. At the end of the song, we can recognize the rise in the instrumentals, giving the song an even richer and greater sound. Opening up as more of piano ballad, we get to hear how the complexity increases as the song pushes forward. Layered vocals, a full drum kit, and synthesizers all culminate into the understanding that Kevin Garret is looking for an answer, and gets one. This is a sophisticated infusion of soul and some R&B and a little bit of soft rock. Kevin Garret is someone who has stunned and impressed me with his debut EP. Moving from the outsides of our vision into the line of sight, Kevin Garret exposes his inner turmoil and showcases his vulnerability through moving and poignant pieces of art. And as difficult as it is to bare your soul and let your guard down, Kevin Garret has done so for this split moment. He lets us see into his world of thinking, into his sphere of feeling and confusion. Vocals as light as a feather coupled with his expert and pensive lyrics, Kevin Garret leaves us in this state of limbo, an ironic situation considering the content of the song. But it does leave us suspended in a moment, floating in a singular point in time when all of these emotions and thoughts and reflections make us ask if this love will be okay. I love this song to bits, because it takes a darker perspective of a topic songwriters enjoy talking about. But Kevin Garret discusses the idea of love with a different viewpoint, letting us soak in all the good and bad of a relationship. I honestly cannot wait to hear more from Kevin Garret. A great lyricist as this should never stop doing something that makes us feel the way this song makes me feel. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This two part movie was possibly one of the best in the worlds greatest franchise. I honestly could talk Harry Potter all day! But this particular composition is such a splendidly and hauntingly well done piece. Contrasting from hopeful and more inspirational music to something more mysterious and suspenseful, this composition features emotional moments that we sometimes forget to feel. This score employs the piano and strings, to sing to us the stories of the wizarding world, and how the darkness changes everything.
