All Is Well and Basshunter
Today I thought I would shake things up a little and post some Bollywood music! Now in the past, I have tended to stick with Bollywood songs that are more along the lines of acoustic or older songs. In other words, I have really focused on bringing the music of Bollywood that people tend to overlook or not hear about at all. But this song was too good of a song to pass up on, and I just have to talk about it. So this song comes from the movie All Is Well, a movie I have not seen and a movie I will probably never see. No matter though because this is just an item song and has no relevance to the movie whatsoever. Which is great! Because then that means I can listen to this song as much as I want without having to think about where it may fall in the movie. In fact, I don't even have to think about the film itself and can just listen in peace. Which brings me to the point of actually talking about this song. I have to say, this is definitely one of the better modern Bollywood songs I have heard, and have gotten a few people addicted to listening to it. There is this incredibly vivacious beat to the song, a beat that is pulsing and thrums throughout the song. This song is ridiculously catchy, a song that would definitely get you up and dancing. This is a song that doesn't necessarily sound Indian, but does have a lot of those stereotypical Indian melodies mixed with some Middle Eastern sounds. What is different about this song is that there are not many traditional Indian instruments used in this song, rather they just stick to keeping a culturally relevant melody. And while this sometimes backfires, I think it is brilliant in this song. To be quite frank, I think this song is wicked good because of how catchy the song is, the use of Western musical styles, and the integration of some really sick dance moves. Having some hard hitting beats really helps, and I like how crisp they are. It adds this intensity to the song that is not necessarily a bad thing. This is an intense and sexy song, one that is meant to sound fierce. In fact, the female vocals are very aggressive and strong, and I thoroughly enjoy that. It goes perfectly with the way the rest of the song sounds, giving us that threateningly sexy kind of feel. This is an anthem that girls could listen to when they are about to walk in like they own the place. Yes, this is definitely a more female driven song, but the vocals themselves have enough of a balance so that we get a good male presence. The whole point of an item song is to showcase female talent (or at least that is how I see it) and Sonakshi Sinha is absolutely stunning in this song, and looks a little rebellious. She doesn't wear overly exposing clothing and still manages to be seductive and powerful. That kind of persona needs a voice that is equally as strong and is a force to be reckoned with. I am also a huge fan of the male vocals. There is a rich deepness to his voice, favoring the lower end of the pitch spectrum. Normally, male playback singers have higher voices, but I like the subtle rumbling in these vocals. This song as a whole is an underrated song, but I am in love with it! Whether you need an anthem of your own or a song to dance to, this is one that will keep your ears happy. Today's instrumental song is by Basshunter. Now this is an artist we have not seen much of these past few years. But I recently got back into listening to his music, and thought, why not? While Basshunter favors the European melodies, he does incorporate some more interesting sounds in his music as well. I attribute a lot of electronic music popularity to Basshunter's influence in the Eastern and Northern parts of Europe, and I do like his style of electronic music. While it doesn't have the Asian flair that Bollywood has, I thought this would still have a good energy to compliment the first song. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
