Zayn Malik and Justin Bieber

Today I have music for you that is hot off the record. Now I know I blogged about Zayn Malik earlier this month, but I had to talk abut his debut single. It dropped today, and dear lord I was satisfied. So, let's do a little bit of a breakdown of it! First I really want to congratulate Zayn Malik on his new single and praise the song because it really is fantastic. This song went exactly the way I thought it would and needed to go, so I am over the moon about that. From the first few notes, I knew this was going to be a pretty big song. Second, let's talk about his voice. This man is like a South Asian/British Chris Brown. I mean this is a guy who can not only sing at a higher pitch than a lot of guys, but has also mastered the falsetto. And for a soulful song like this, being able to transition without a hitch is something that is very important. That transition is trademark to the genre and is a great way to turn the song into something more full of lust and sensation and sexual tension. I will have to say, Zayn Malik's time with One Direction definitely helped his voice evolve into what it is right now, but I do believe he makes quite the spectacular R&B artist. The lyrics even has those subtle euphemisms for the sensual side of things, which tells me something about Zayn Malik. He is an artist who has grown up. He has cast aside some of the more superficial songs of his past, and opened his door to the world of R&B. Which leads me to the third part. Zayn Malik has entered the world of more adult music, writing songs that are meant to be heard by the young adult population. And as an artist who is redefining himself, this sultry and sexy tone is the way to go. While the video did go well with the song, the slightly trippier and more artistic I am hoping it is something that gets overshadowed by the actual singing in the song. Now Zayn Malik is able to do this magical thing with his voice, which is one of the reasons why the lyrics don't bother me as much as they should. Now there are moments when the lyrics really are just sex-talk, but the way he sings them makes it a little better. Zayn Malik has a very clear and distinct voice, but a softer and more sultry sound. Throw in an explosive chorus and wonderfully catchy melodies, you are left with a song that is meant to be for the bedroom. This is a song that is steady and smooth and runs like water, making it even that much sexier. What is pretty interesting about this song, is that it is about something more sensual and intimate, but Zayn Malik sings the song with a slight hint of romance. How strange isn't it? A song like this turning into something that could potentially be romantic. This song does illustrate some influence of One Direction, whether he realizes it or not. As one band has evolved, the solo artist also has. And it tends to start out with the same trajectory. This song features some atmospheric synths and some low vocal looping in the background. This song also has a sense of indie music, telling me that this may not be the song you are normally used to. And don't forget the electric guitars that are used throughout the song. I have to say Zayn Malik did a really great job with his first single, but I just hope the rest of the album delivers as well as this one did. But for now, I think we can settle for the sexy and sultry song we get here. I am really impressed and love the quality of production on the music. This is a song that I am more than happy to call a "guilty pleasure."  Today's instrumental song is by Justin Bieber. These two artists have a lot in common, and one of those things is the fact that we have two artists who have finally grown up and moved on. They have started pursuing careers and passions that strike them, not what is pushed at them. This song is about a young kid who is trying to find love. What more can you ask for? And of course, Justin Bieber has progressed a lot since the beginning, and we can hear that in all of his music. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
