Matt McAndrew and Amelie

Today I have some slower, more moving music for you. This song is by a finalist on the show The Voice. Matt McAndrew has a very soft and lovely voice, one that took him all the way to the runner up position. The thing about Matt McAndrew is that he sings with so much passion and blood. The music is what runs through his veins, and you can hear that immersion and power in his singing, and specifically in this song. He has a very strong voice that is capable of being both vulnerable but also a fiery expression of passion and emotion. This is possibly one of my favorite musical discoveries of the past few months. When I hear this song, all I want to do is sing with him. Matt McAndrew has a way of making us feel this song the way he feels it, and when I sing along to this song, I can feel that sense of pain and anguish. The song is so beautifully written, with lyrics that go straight to the heart. They are relatable and understandable, the kind of lyrics that make us remember those moments when we felt the same thing and the same way. This song is a combination of magical artistry. The song has truthfulness, intensity, and the ability to tell a story. And to top that all off, we have the wondrous enchantment of Matt McAndrew's vocal prowess. He also makes this song one that has a bit of a gospel sound, with the large choir in the background providing support during the chorus. But I honestly love that. It adds more depth and a gentle power to the song, something that makes it complete. This is not a song that uses just a piano, so we need more than just a single vocalist. Having the choir compliments the presence of other instruments. He is able to transition between stronger, grittier, and louder vocals into the softer and falsetto vocals. Having that consistent choir in the background offers a center of stability, that one vocal line that stays the same and is something to fall back on. Matt McAndrew wrote, composed, and performed this song. All on his own. It is absolutely spellbinding what he has done with this song. This is a dramatic and heartbreaking ballad that really reaches the depths of our emotional capacity. I cannot wait to hear what he has in store for us in the future. If it is anything like this song, I know we will be in for a treat. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Amelie. I have heard so many incredible things about this movie, but have yet to actually watch it. But this score is one of the most beautiful piano compositions I have heard in modern music. This composition has a back and forth between rapid key work and slower, more deliberate work. It creates and emotional swirling kind of sensation, something that may aptle describe the movie. I find it to be incredibly beautiful, something unique and still something that has the ability to grab hold of your heart and immerse it in the feelings of the music. Quite impressive and moving. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
