The Bravery and Green Day

Today I have music for you by a band that was pretty popular in the mid 2000s. The Bravery is a band that has a really interesting mix of being a little punk, a little alternative, and a little old school. There is more electronic work in this than most other punk bands, but there is still that nice human aspect to it. It is so nice to be able to hear a guitar and drums and keyboard being played, giving the song a more down to earth feeling. There is a more raw energy that comes from playing music with your bare hands. This song is definitely more uptempo, more fun, and takes on the more revival age of rock music. I really like that! I have really missed rock songs like this, the kind of songs that have a little bit of a grungier or more garage sound to them. The 90's kind of rock feel. That is what we get with this song. The vocalist Sam Endicott has a voice that is great for this song, although weirdly not what you would necessarily expect. He has this deep and laid back kind of voice, one that has a little bit of rasp and grit to it. In no way is Sam Endicott a super powerhouse, but there is something so entrancing about his voice. It is a mix of the way he sings and how his voice sounds. He has a voice that is deeper than most rock singers, and sings with the stylistic elements of other punk rock groups. More elongated enunciation and vocal slides give the vocal lines a more fluid sound. This is a song that I haven't been able to shake all day, and I think it is pretty easy to see why. This song has a great and energetic beat, something that you can chill out and jam to or get up and kind of bounce around. There is a great balance between instruments and electronic work, making this song something that is fun and exciting to listen to. This is not one of those punk songs that appeals to the angst-ier side of life, but rather is something that is meant to be a more light hearted song despite the lyrics. The Bravery definitely had an awesome run, and I think they are an underrated and overshadowed band. But maybe you will go back and relive the sounds of punk rock if that was your style, or maybe you will go on to listen to more music by them and in the process, discover how awesome that older rock is. Today's instrumental song is by Green Day. Now this is a band that has been around for over 20 years, and though they haven't put out new music lately, they are still fan favorites. Green Day presented a different and more intense side of rock music. Yes, they are still along he lines of old school. I mean this is a band that lives and breathes 90s punk rock and grunge. So today, we have a couple of nice throwbacks for you! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
