Sanders Bohlke and Dragonheart

Today I have an absolutely beautiful song by an artist of the name Sanders Bohlke. The first time I ever heard this song was actually by listening to the soundtrack of a TV show I used to watch. This song has such a generically unique sound to the song. parts of it sound like a typical song of this style, however, when all the parts come together, an entirely different and unique sound is produced. This is a song that starts out more acoustic and then builds up into this euphonious beauty of sound and emotional power. Sanders Bohlke makes incredible use of the stringed orchestral instruments. The immediate beginning of the song features a darker violin melody which gives way to a sweeter toned guitar. While he sings, the only instruments we hear are those soft strings. Actually, a majority of the song features just the orchestra. And that is actually pretty rare! We don't get the heavier presence of the guitar till the second verse. Sanders Bohlke has a very unique voice, one that has a sound that I have not heard from a lot of singers. The vocals are soothing and strong, but also have the emotional feel to it. He allows himself be vulnerable through the lyrics and through the music in the background. I have to say, my favorite parts of the song are when the percussion section slowly makes their way into the musical scope. They slowly but surely build up and once we get them, the entire songs seems to change. The layering of the song is what allows the song to build up to this beautiful and transcendent kind of sound. It gives the song that feeling of really being alive, face shining towards the sun while the frigid autumn hair blows leaves of color all around. Quite the picture, I know, but that is exactly how this song makes me feel! This is a feelings kind of song, but is something that I love listening to as well. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Dragonheart, and was composed by Randy Edelman. It is a fantastically performed piece and really covers all parts of the emotion spectrum. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
