3 Years Later
Well this month happens to be a special month for this blog. 3 years ago, I started this blog with the intention of bringing music to the world. And I am so happy to see how far it has come and how much it has evolved. From the simple beginnings of just picking a couple of songs, I love how this blog has ended up. Now it is more than music sharing, but is also a review and a musical breakdown and a way for me to fully express how I feel about the music. This blog has seen so many holidays, special events, and remembrances. And over the course of these three years, over 100 different artists have been featured from all over the world. I want to give out my thanks to everyone who takes the time to read about the music. Thank you so much for opening your minds and exploring all the nooks and crannies of the music world. For diving deep into genres that most people find weird or unpopular. And thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your lives, for allowing the music become a part of your lives. With those thoughts in mind, I thought it would be kind of cool to do a throwback kind of thing! The first post I ever made featured two songs that I had been obsessed with at the time. This first song is be the legendary DJ Tiesto and features the work of Tegan and Sara. This song is one that I really don't get tired of listening to. Tiesto is one of those DJ's whose talent transcends so many aspects of making music. Not only is he a great DJ overall, Tiesto has the ability to read a crowd well. He has the ability to assess what kinds of sounds are popular and which kinds of sounds could possibly become popular. And he is really good at mixing genres up into something that is nothing short of a masterpiece. This song features a mix of indie rock and EDM styles as well as the standard trance which Tiesto is most known for. But this song was also a predecessor for a lot of the synth based music we hear today. So kudos to Tiesto on pioneering this song! Tegan and Sara provide amazing vocals for the song. They have different vocal sounds, one being more high pitched and the other lower. This kind of combination is so perfect for layering harmonies and creating something that has a lot of vocal parts to it. They are also some of the few singers that have voices that are very good for EDM and house and club music. Being a duo that likes to dabble in some synth pop, I think it is awesome that Tegan and Sara and Tiesto were able to pull off a song like this. Today's instrumental song is the first instrumental song I ever put up.When I first heard this song composed by Karl Jenkins, I was completely lost. I was lost to the world of sensation and imagination and visualization. What makes this so unique is that this piece is a combination of classical orchestral music with African and Celtic melodies. I am personally a HUGE fan of the cultural influences on orchestral pieces. It gives the piece so much life and gives it a rich and full feeling. When I hear this song I can imagine a wide expanse with the sun shining just enough for it to glisten when reflecting off something. The wind is gently caressing your hair and you stand with your entire being outstretched to the sky. That is the kind of song this is and I promise you will not be able to get enough of it. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
