Rihanna & Eminem and Beyonce

Today I have some music for you by a name that is huge in the world of pop and hip hop. Rihanna is a name that most people will be able to recognize. She started her career early, and so even people in my generation know who she is. Her music has seen some really incredible steps in evolution. I remember when she first started, she had more of this R&B and soul kind of sound. But today, as heard with this song, she has moved over towards more seductive hip hop, the kind of music that you definitely want to get down to. Which is good for her! I think evolution in an artist's style is a testament to their openness of new sounds and innovations within the music world. But anyway, with this song, we don't really get a heavy lyrical base. Most of the lines in this song are repetitive, so it slowly starts to turn into more of a club song. However, the meaning behind the lyrics is pretty controversial, if you understand what she is getting at. This song is a slow grinding kind of song, the kind of song that you don't mind getting a little dirty on the dance floor to. Another little addition to this song is that Rihanna throws in this Middle Eastern kind of flavor to it. I believe the instrumentation includes the use of an Egyptian flute, which I think is pretty freaking awesome. Rihanna also adds in a splash of her Caribbean roots in this song. There are a lot of reggae influences on this song, things we can hear especially in the chorus. The way the added percussion beats sound, well it definitely gets me into the reggae feel of things. This song also has this bombastic kind of beat to it, which offers a spectacular hip hop feel to the song. And then of course, the synthesizer work that is added to make this song complete. The chorus really uses this sense of rhythmic elements and synthesizers to create this club style song, but not necessarily something that would fall under the EDM category. Which is a nice change! Rihanna tends to elongate her syllables in this song, showing off her lung capacity in a great way. I think that adds this seductive factor to the song while also creating intensity. The icing on the cake with this song is the genius addition of Eminem towards the end. Even though his verse is pretty short, just having him in the song boosts the rating up. The thing with Eminem is that his rhymes are not silly and nonsensical. They have so much meaning and depth to them, lots of puns and controversial statements. Which is something that a lot of rappers today are just now realizing could be a good thing to include. Eminem and Rihanna have had a lot of success together in the past, and it is no wonder that they decided to continue working together, even if this song is not a single. They two oft them have  a really good artistic dynamic that flows and melds together perfectly. Not going to lie, I have not been able to get this song out of my head all day, and I am totally okay with it! Rihanna definitely did a good job with this song. Today's instrumental song is by Beyonce. I mean everyone knows that name. She is one of the most known persons across the globe, and her music is what has gotten her there. Now while I personally don't listen to her music often, I have been known to really like some of her stuff. So that's what I have for you today! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
