Alex Metric and Passion Pit

Today I have music for you that is an absolutely lovely song by Alex Metric. Now I know it is weird to consider a song by a DJ lovely. I would think the same thing to be totally honest. But this song is beautiful in a special way because of the meaning of the song. Normally people don't pay attention to lyrics in EDM songs because they are too focused on the beat or bass drop. Which is fine, to each their own. But for me, I love the words in this song because of how moving they can be. This song is about a story, a story of love and then pain. Heart racing to heart breaking. And then, how to pick up and continue on even when your heart bears the weight of the world. Hence the song title. But this song is just so incredible in the message that is being shown and the visually shows the happiness one can feel even after tragedy. It isn't easy to move on after pain like this, but this song is one that can make you smile a little more, laugh a little more, and be yourself a little bit more. Alex Metric purposefully makes this a very up beat and bubbly song because of the words in the song, and I think it works beautifully. Normally I don't put up music videos, but this one just made me smile and made me feel warm and fuzzy. I know, super cliche. But it really does because this video narrates the story of the song. This is a rare kind of song, one that allows you to see and feel and hear everything. This is the kind of house music I miss, the kind that reminds us of who we are. Alex Metric, you did really freaking well with this song. Honestly, I love this song so much! Today's instrumental song is by Passion Pit. This is actually one of my favorite songs by them. It is so happy and uplifting and sunny. Brings a smile to your face with all the little adorable nuances and the overall great sound. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Today's song is a really cool one out of South Africa by the band Kongos. There are so many awesome things happening in this song. For example the first sounds you hear is this really sick accordion work, and yes, these guys made the accordion look even cooler than any other musician out there has. I love the way they use the accordion and the tone of it. And then you hit the chorus which has these really strong vocals and you get the feel from the multiple voices with these sweet guitar licks and such a loud presence with the electric guitar. This song just kicks some major ass! Today's song is by the Beastie Boys, and is one of my favorite songs by them. Ima Robot and Tame Impala

Today I have a song for you by the band known as Ima Robot. Many of you will recognize this song because it is used in the show Suits. Disclaimer, Suits is a wonderfully fantastic show and I highly recommend you go watch it. Anyway, this song has a really cool and suave feel to it. It has that artsy urban grunge to it which I really like. It is a different way of performing rock music and takes you back to the 90's style of music. This song has a really cool charm to it because a lot of the song falls on the support of the bass guitar over the drums. The bass guitar serves as a secondary percussion to the rest of the instrumentals. It is actually kind of awesome how simple the instruments are in this song because when you bring the together you hear a really sick song. The main instruments are of course the bass guitar, tambourine, drums, and keyboard. Nothing else makes an appearance and I like it that way. The music in this song is so structured but so laid back at the same time.

Zayn Malik and Interstellar

Today I wanted to give a shout out to an artist who is both very famous and very underground. Most people know him as Zayn Malik, that guy who was in One Direction but left the band. So a little background, Zayn Malik was one of the five members of the famous boy band, One Direction. His departure from the band was all over the news last year, and I wont' lie, I felt bad for him. Not because he left the band, but because of what that meant for him in the public eye. It marked him as a huge target for papparzi and press, and I just feel so bad for him because he had to live in that public eye for so long. Which is one of the reasons why he wanted to leave. To live his life more quietly. So that of course, is a consequence of his level of fame. But on the other hand, we have his more quiet and surprising side.
