Years & Years and Jay Park

Today I have some music for you by a band that has just hit the big scene. Years and Years' latest single has become and absolute hit! This song is one that I can understand being at the top of charts. This song has a perfect blend of the up and coming electronic sound we all love, while also featuring a bit of the pop sound that everyone really seems to enjoy. This is a song that is filled with so much incredible energy and just a great and happy vibe overall. This is a song that has such a great melody, and a sound that is just so much fun. This is a song that has shimmering synths and a full bass beat to back the melody. Of course I am an absolute fan of the trumpets and other winds and horns used in this song. Honestly, the re-introduction of big band type instruments is something that makes me really happy! Instruments like that have been underrated ever since the close of the swing era, and it is nice to see the reemergence of these kinds of sounds. On the other hand, that may be a testament to the possibility that there is a lack in sound innovation...but why look at music like that? This is a song that knows how to get us intrigued. The lyrics are very catchy and the song itself infectiously so. This is the kind of song that was produced in a way that makes it very good to remix. It has that repetitive drum beat and tinny drum sound effects to create a very great plate for DJs to come remix on. I don't know if I would go so far as to say that Years and Years have come out with a sound that is uniquely their own, but they have a sound that is part of a unique genre and style. We hear similar styles from groups like Clean Bandit, but Years and Years takes a shared style and molds it to fit their personal style. That is what is more important. Creating a sound that artists may share at the base of the song, but also creating a sound that is their own to layer on top. Years and Years is more defined by their use of lively synthesizers and heavier drum work. I am a fan of the vocals in this song. They are bright and soulful and almost have an R&B kind of twist to them. It is a great combination with the vivacious background music and the vocals in this song are the kind that would fit a remix as well as the original. I think the harmonies during the chorus are also spot on. They work in a way that gives a dynamic feel to the actual vocalization in the song. All in all, a really good and contagious track! Today's instrumental song is by my favorite Korean artist, Jay Park. This is a guy who is very talented in every aspect of performing. He can sing, he can act, he can rap, and he can dance like nobody's business. It is honestly very impressive, and I love so much of his music. He can go from intense sounds to more breathy and charming to music that gets you on the dance floor. Quite remarkable really. Now I chose this song because when I first heard the song by Years and Years, I was automatically reminded of this one. There are melodies between the two songs that are similar and I couldn't shake those sounds. What do you think? Do these songs have some similarities or am I just going crazy? Let me know in the comments below! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
