Olivver the Kid and The Neighbourhood

Hey guys, sorry about not posting yesterday. I returned to Austin for a few days and got a little caught up in seeing the squad. But today I am back with some music for you! This song is by an artist who is really underground and also happens to be a solo artist. Olivver the Kid who also goes by just Olivver the Kid has a very interesting sound to his specific path of music. He likes to describe himself as an alternative kind of R&B artist, and this is a description I completely agree with. Olivver the Kid has a very soulful and sweet voice that is accompanied by guitars and synthesized percussion. The beat pattern he uses in his music, and in this song in particular, are slower and larger in a sense. The drumbeat is the most prominent instrumental sound we hear in this song. Of course in the bridges we get a beautiful background of keyboads and melodic synth sounds, but otherwise, we really get this full and heavy beat that is the backbone of the song. All the talk these days is about the bass of a song, but Olivver the Kid seems to like to use percussion as the source of his structure. In this sense, he takes the approach of an alterantive rock band. This influence is clearly heard, and quite understandable, as Olivver the Kid was the drummer for the band The Neighbourhood. He effectively uses the guitar and the bass guitar to give the song a fuller and richer sound. But at the same time, there are some clear signs of R&B influence. Of course you have the beat. But then you also have the voice. Olivver the Kid has a gentler voice, something more precious than a lot of other singers out there. He has mastered the soft sung voice that can be quite sexy at times. But he takes that and turns it into something deeper and more enriching. I can't say that he has a strong voice, but he does have a powerful one. Olivver the Kid is an artist on the rise and I the world has some big plans for him. Today's instrumental song is a song by The Neighbourhood. A little homage to the band that Olivver the Kid used to play for. The history of how The Neighbourhood was created is a little interesting. A hipster band started and grew to stardom from the origins of a very conservative city. Quite the turnaround. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
