Kygo and Trey Songz

Today I have some positively amazing music by two of artists that I have been unable to get enough of lately. The Weeknd is of course one of the biggest names in the R&B world, and rightly so! His music is the best kind of seductive and sensual music and his voice is silky smooth and suave. The thing about The Weeknd is that the sultriness of his voice is enough to mask some of the really dirty lyrics he tends to have. But let us be totally honest, a voice like his is enough to set the mood. There are a lot of different ways sensual music can come forth. Sometimes it can be that slow jazz or those really nice slow jams. But with The Weeknd, we get a much darker sound, something that has a primal undertone. With The Weeknd, we get the black and white and grey scale kind of outlook, that kind of dark and intense sound and feeling. I absolutely love that! I think it is so unique to his style of singing and producing, especially given the fact that The Weeknd has a beautiful voice. Now when we throw in a remixed version of a song like this, a lot of times it does not turn out the way we would like. However, this remix is done by one of the greatest DJ's, an artist whose remixes have never lead me astray. Kygo is one of the greatest remixers out there. While is style is definitely more chillstep and tropical house oriented, he did an absolutely incredibly job with this song. I won't lie, this style of music is definitely a departure from the normal style of Kygo's music and from the kind of songs he tends to remix. Normally his songs have more of a tropical hint to them and his remixes reflect that brighter sound and feel. So for Kygo to remix a song that is just so dark and sexy is very different. But this remix, this is possibly his best one. And I understand why people fight about whether this remixed version is better than the original because both versions are absolutely incredible. Kygo turned this song into something that is a little more energetic but just as sultry. From the opening you know that this is going to be something phenomenal. The song opens up in a very Kygo way, with a repetitive vocal theme and a slightly tropical sounding keyboard melody. And then we get into the remixed meat of the song and things just get even better. The thing about Kygo is that when he remixes music he keeps the tone of the song the same. He takes into the consideration what the song was supposed to make you feel and goes off that to make his remixes. With the chorus in this song, we get this more hyped up energy but that same sexual tension and intensity remains. I also am a huge fan of the lowered vocal layering that Kygo throws in there, and honestly, those three little piano notes really make this song better. It is amazing to hear what DJ's can do with just a little bit of piano thrown in there. This remix is one of the best remixes I have heard in a long while and I can't get enough of it! Today's instrumetnal song is a version of one of my favorite songs by Trey Songz. He is one of the R&B artists who I can never really get enough of. His songs have this really great sex appeal and just overall smoothness to them. Regardless of the song, he knows how to turn it into something anyone can dance to. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
