Radical Face and David Bowie

Today's first song is by a music act called Radical Face. What I love about this artist, album, and song is the complete unique quality behind it. Each song in the album has a special story since each song tells the story of a house and what happened in them. This is a concept that I fell in love with because it is something that hasn't been done much in the music scope. The entire album tells a story, and tells us a story of passion and love and sadness. The story that the album tells is one that is a bit quirky, but is also something that we can all relate to. Now I am not going to tell you what I understood from the story because everyone understands the story a little differently. Everyone interprets the story in their own way. But regardless of how you see it, the story is still something touching and lovely. There is so much power in this song in a way that most people would not be able to completely understand. This is song that is as equally eerie as it is moving. Each word is carefully chosen so that it reflects the mood of the song while also being something that is able to be delved into further. Each song has been written with words that have been painstakingly chosen because of the complexity and layers and depth that Radical Face wants us to try and understand. And the beautiful thing about having so many complexities is that we can cater the understanding to our own selves. We can understand the songs in ways that are particular to us, our personality, our situation in life, or our emotional state. There is a beautiful irony within the words of this song that makes you really stop and wonder and think. It might not be where you expect, and you may not pick up on it all. But that is still something that is okay because the focus of this song lies with the overarching purging of emotion. Now I am purposefully posting this song with its music video because I think that this is a video that enhances the song. It adds even more power and true feeling to the song itself and the way we hear the song. It takes on a journey that is both compelling and emotional, the one that you simply cannot pull yourself away from.  This song in particular is a really nice acoustic jam. The guitar tends to take over in this song and gives us a sound that is comforting. The overlaying vocals create a cozy feel and the cool guitar work makes everything come together. There is this wonderful eternalness to this song, something that is both ethereal and grounding.  I highly recommend checking out Radical Face's work! Only a second album, yet this is some of the most intricate work I have heard from any artist.  Today's instrumental song is by the David Bowie and this song in particular was used in one of favorite movies of all time, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. There is a long list of reasons as to why I love that song, reasons I won't go into now.  But, this song is one of them. The cover of this song used in the movie is absolutely brilliant and quite ominous. But I really like how that sounds because it is a sound that can wash over you. It can make you feel a little bit more soothed, a little less trapped in the whirlwind that is always around you. David Bowie actually did a very wonderful job with this song. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
