EXO and N Sync

Today I have some more foreign music for you, from the world of Korean music. I have to say, I have really gotten into Korean music. Not the stereotypical K-Pop kind of music, but some more of the more intense kind of music. This song is by the boy band EXO. Now I say boy band, but only because it is made up of a bunch of guys and they dance. But that is pretty much where the similarity ends. EXO is a pretty big group with more members than would be expected from a boy band, but these numbers help this group so much. One of the things about Korean bands is that dance is a huge part of the song, just as much as the music. EXO has the numbers and the talent to fuel the dance side of their act, and they also have a wide range of voices to choose from when creating the actual song. In this song we hear a wide range of voices, from a deeper sound to a gorgeous falsetto. Yep, that is right. Even in songs like this we still get to hear falsetto and it sounds pretty damn great. EXO takes a different approach with this song by giving it a different kind of beat. For starters, this beat is slower than a lot of beats that hardcore Korean artists use. This song has a little bit more of a groove to it rather than a rave and drop kind of sound. I am a huge fan of the groove sound because it makes the chorus roll off the tongue when you sing it. This is a song that is all about making us feel the dance vibe while also singing along as best we can. I mean from the video we definitely see the wicked dance moves that these guys are capable. Honestly, it is slightly unfair that Korean guys are so damn good at dancing, but I digress. The dancing in this video enhances the sound of the song because of how smooth and sexy it is. This song is meant to have kind of a seductive allure, and when you listen to it, the slower funk gives us that initial feeling of getting down. But then you see them dance and you just have to hit the dance floor and start really getting down. EXO is another one of those Korean groups who has suave and sexy written all over them. And they happen to come out with some sick music that is good for both dancing to and lounging to. A lot of people don't take Korean music seriously, but I have to say, some of the coolest music I have heard has been from the world of Korean music. I hope you guys go and explore this vast array of music! Today's instrumental song is by possibly the greatest American boy band known as N Sync. Yes, I am talking about one of the most common boy bands of all time. But, I am also talking about one of their lesser known songs, so I think that is a fair trade off. This is actually one of my favorite songs by them because it was such a different sound for the time it came out. Generally, N Sync was known to be heartthrobs and a group of guys that serenaded girls with romantic words and lovely lines. But this is "intense" N Sync and the kind of N Sync that wants to make things more dance worthy. And it definitely works out! This is one of N Sync's most danceable songs and it definitely takes n more of that groove and funk sound. This was such a nice change in comparison to the usual mushy stuff we would get. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
