Smallpools and Walk The Moon

For those of you who don't know, this weekend is what is known as Roundup, which is basically a giant party that starts Thursday night and continues til Sunday. I am happy to say that I did make it to Roundup and saw a lot of the amazing artists featured there, but, I did miss my post yesterday and for that I am so sorry. But today I have some music for you all that is rather new! I had the chance to see and meet and talk with the guys from a band called Smallpools. Some of you may have heard of them, others maybe not. Either way, I think you are all in for a treat. Smallpools is one of my favorite indie bands because of how much fun and how sunny their sound is and how cool they are as people. Smallpools recently released their debut album only a few days ago and I am kind of in love with the album. The thing about Smallpools that makes me even happier about them as a band is that they sound even better live than they do on the album. All the songs they performed tonight were stellar and out of this world, and the fact they perform with so much energy and passion makes it even better to listen to. Smallpools is a band that could be compared to someone like Walk The Moon. The thing about Smallpools though is that they tend to use more keyboards and synths in their music. However, that does not mean we discredit them as musicians and performers because every note and supporting harmony was performed perfectly on stage. This is a band that likes to keep the instruments in their hands instead of using parts of the recording to get those more electronic sounds. Smallpools just has this all around feel-good vibe that you can't get away from. And why would you? It is perfect for any spring or summertime events. Now this song has a little bit more rock elements to it, but is still a pretty infectiously energetic song. The catchy choruses and up-beat synths make this song have a vintage and retro pop kind of vibe. This is a band that is more than just a one hit wonder. This is a band that takes their music and their talent seriously and use that to create songs that are like food for the soul. Believe it or not, I told the lead singer of the band about this blog and he made a little shout out to it! I am definitely more than slightly excited. Smallpools is a band I would keep watching because they are going to be huge. Today's instrumental song is a version of a song by Walk The Moon. I think these two bands complement each other extremely well in their styles of music and the up beat kind of sound that we all love so much. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
