Parade of Lights and Passion Pit

Today I have music for you by the band Parade of Lights. This band is definitely what I would consider a synth pop group. But what I like about this song is that there is a good mix between tangible band instruments and the synthesized sounds. This song has that kind of transcendent feel to it. It is the kind of song that makes you feel like you are really feeling the world around you as you explore the world for what seems like the first time ever. The way the synth has this bubbly and catchy sound really gives the song that tabula rasa kind of sound. This song really uses the instruments in an incredible way. The guitar and drums are heard pretty clearly throughout the entire song. Especially during the chorus, we hear that heavier guitar sound that is not necessarily a crazy solo or anything, but still has a presence. And then of course the synths and keyboards create that filler and supporting bass which kind of help the entire song stick together. The vocals in this song are slightly fuzzed out, but take on an ethereal kind of tone. There is not a raw and powerful strength to the vocals, but rather something more gentle and almost as if it is omnipresent. I know that is weird to think about but the vocals kind of remind me of the third person narrator rather than the main character. But all in all, this is a smooth and fun ride of a song and I really am starting to like Parade of Lights! Today's instrumental song is by Passion Pit. I don't know why I thought of this song immediately after hearing the first one, but it has to be for a good reason! I mean they are very similar styles of music and have a lot of common characteristics. Passion Pit is a fantastic band in their own right. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
