Major Lazer and Dillon Francis
Today I have got some really wicked electronic music for you. I may have gone on a listening binge, which is the best kind, and heard a bunch of music. This song is by Major Lazer. Now Major Lazer is an electronic project that I am absolutely in love with. Why? Well, Major Lazer has a style that is so different and uses influences from a lot of different cultural sounds. I think that comes from the fact that one of the members is Diplo. With Diplo, we get so much music and so many sounds from all over the world, but he knows how to mix it in a way that sounds so boss. This song has a little bit of culture mixing. The percussion in this song has a very Latin feel to it and a very traditional Latin sound. Now this Latin American sound is actually a really cool addition to this song because it allows this song to be a trap related song. The way that reggaeton and Latin beats work is that they are generally at half the speed of the rest of the song. So with a song in this style, that kind of percussion is really suitable. This song is ridiculously sick, especially since each drop is different from the next. These drops are accompanied by very Arabian melodies. You only hear them after the drops and before the buildup, but they are such a wicked addition to the song. Major Lazer is so incredibly talented at mixing these diverse sounds together in a way that sounds pretty phenomenal. I have to say, Sean Paul was a pretty perfect addition to the song. He has that exotic and tropical voice that is perfect for that Latin and reggae sound. His voice is also one that is suitable for the rap game and a lot of times, trap songs employ those kinds of vocalists. It is no wonder why he was the first choice for this song. I am a huge fan of Major Lazer and I love this song! Today's instrumental song is off Dillon Francis' new album. This is his best album to date. I am throwing that out there right now. Dillon Francis really explores all the realms of electronic music and EDM. Every song is completely different from the rest and Dillon Francis does an amazing job of making each song energetic and fun. Now this is a song that really uses that Middle Eastern and Indian influence in this song. A lot of people disregard those cultural sounds because they are so unique and energixing in their own respect. But Dillon Francis nailed it with this one. This song uses a lot of Middle Eastern melodies for the main thread of the song. And it sounds so nasty! Dillon Francis absolutely killed it with this song, and it may even be my favorite off this album. He did an absolutely incredible job with this song and the album as a whole. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
