Coldplay and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Today I have some music for you by one of the greatest bands of our era and possibly of all time. Coldplay is a band that never fails to deliver stunning and captivating music. Each album has this wonderful theme about it and it extends not only to the lyrics but to the instrumentation as well. Each album has a story woven into it, and sometimes it can be a little difficult to glean. But with their newest album Ghost Stories, I think it is clear as to what the songs are going to be about. Normally when we hear music about breakups, the songs can either be extremely lovely or very annoying and mushy. But Coldplay takes this to another level of beauty and grace and depth. The entire album is so moving in a way that only few artists can capture. This album and this song are very transcendent and the emotions go beyond that of just feeling sad. This song captures the sadness and the loneliness and this brokenness. Chris Martin captures his vulnerability and insecuraties and feelings of loss in a way that gives the album the appropriate "Ghost" part. This song is so hauntingly beautiful and the music is so spectacular at capturing Chris Martin's emotions in perfection. The guitar curly q's, the synth work, the soft percussion and drum all culminate into this evocative concoction. This song and album revels in the darkness that isn't black, but full of shades of grey. That is actually exactly what this album does. It explores the different shades of grey, starting with the darker and shadowed greys, working its way up to the brighter and shining greys, settling to something calming. This song takes us on a stroll through the darkness of Chris Martin's heart and it is something that speaks to our own hearts. This song has that haunting beauty in both instrumentation and lyrics. This album may be Coldplay's best album to date or falls right behind Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close. This movie is absolute spellbinding. This is a movie that will hit the hearts of everyone who watches it, especially given the subject matter. This composition from the score is so melancholy and simple yet very profound. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
