Cat Powers & Coldplay and 30 Seconds To Mars

Today I have music for you from the movie Wish I Was Here. I actually just watched this movie and can tell you that it is quite a good movie. That is one of the things I love about indie films-they have so much value and substance and present it to you in a way that is unlike anything you could see. Yet, these movies touch the heart and soul in a way that no other film could. These movies make you think and reflect and really feel. This movie was phenomenal and I loved the theme of the film. The soundtrack for this movie is also amazing. There is something special about music used in indie films because they are made especially to capture a certain emotion or feeling or moment. For me, this song captures the moment of complete surrender to the world around you. This song is something that is pensive but freeing at the same time. Cat Powers and Coldplay came together to make this song and it is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard from any movie. I have to say that all the credit goes the Zach Braff. As the director, he took careful thought into deciding on which songs to use for his movie and he could not have picked better music. I loved the way he went about finding the music for this movie. He picked the most original, the most unique, and the hardest to find kind of songs. This song is so wistful and emotional an so unique to the movie that it accompanies. Zach Braff just asked some of his favorite bands if they would be willing to do a song for the movie. Chris Martin wrote this song, but suggested that a woman sing it. This is where Cat Powers comes in. It is incredible to see two artists that are powerhouses come together and sing something so gentle and moving. Coldplay provides us with the beautiful piano work. This kind of evocative piano melody is something that could only be written by someone who really understands the movie and the feelings that are trying to be conveyed. Who better than Coldplay, a group that I know to traverse every part of the human emotion spectrum? Cat Powers sings a majority of the song, but something about that adds so much to the song. I don't know how I would feel about the vocalist being a male. There is something about Cat Powers' voice that makes this song really emote the moment in the film. Her voice captures the melancholy but hopeful nature of the film. And Chris Martin's crooning in the background adds this gorgeous ethereal feel to the song. It isn't haunting and eerie and mysterious, but something so completely free, like birds soaring in the air. Together, this song is one of my favorite discoveries that I have made in a long while. It plays such a small role in the world of music, with hundreds of new songs coming out each year. But to me, this song has more power behind it than many of those other songs combined. Today's instrumental song is by 30 Seconds To Mars. This is a band that is known for having extremely pumped up or gritty music. But then you get a song like this, and the only thing you can do is listen to it with the world fading around you. This is one of few songs that can really do that for me. Every time I listen to this song, everyone and everything fades into the background and it feels as if the only person in the world. This song makes me want to stand on a cliff overlooking the ocean, with the sun setting behind me, and just stand there with my arms open wide. This song is so powerful despite the calmer musicality. This is my favorite 30 Seconds to Mars song to date and honestly, it will probably remain so. This song s another one of those very pensive and reflective ones. If you ever listen to the original, Jared Leto's voice actually takes you to another state of being. These two incredible songs are some of the most wonderful things to ever reach my ears. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
