Basshunter and DJ Raaban

Today I have some interesting electronic music for you. To start off, I have some Basshunter for you. It has been a long time since I have posted anything by him, but it has been an even longer time since he has put out new music. I guess this could kind of be like a throwback song, but is it really that old?  So Basshunter is a phenomenal DJ and is incredible at pretty much every aspect of producing music. Every note and lyric is written by him which might account for the fact that is lyrics are pretty straightforward. But then again, I guess the focus for him is more the electronic aspect of the song so it is okay if the lyrics are not super meaningful or deep. The lyrics fit really well with the tone and mood of the song he produces though. Basshunter has a knack for coming up with tunes that will not leave your head. They are all so catchy and energetic and fun and lively beyond belief. I think the best way to represent the way his music sounds is Youth. That is what his music sounds like. All the good things about Youth and all the things people look back and wish they had again- that is what his music sounds like. It is happy, carefree, dance worthy, and tells a story. A lot of his songs are linked together to tell a story about love and it is actually quite nice. This is one part of the story. One of the things that I absolutely love about Basshunter's music is the dynamism in the electronic sounds. Each song has a melody that is clearly different from the next. Even with big electronic artists today, I have seen the issue of having two songs sounding similar. But with Basshunter, I can tell every song apart. Each melody is distinctly different and even within the songs, the melodies are complex. I think Basshunter takes the music as a whole very seriously instead of just focusing on the bass and drop. His melodies are pretty darn complex and show a lot of movement and many different motifs. That is what makes his music so fun to listen to. It isn't repetitive and within every song there are changes and differences that make the song like a roller coaster. Its actually pretty darn brilliant. Today's instrumental song is a very European and early style of electronic music. Honestly it is a little hard to explain because I am not sure how I would categorize DJ Raaban. His music is very similar to Basshunter, but it is mainly remixes or instrumentals like this one. I guess I would have to call him early trance. There is something about Eastern European electronic music that sounds very different from mainstream electronic. This song has high energy and is very fast moving. The beats are fast paced, the melodies are extremely dynamic, but it is something you could still jam out to. These kinds of songs fall into the categories of trance and electronica, but there is something that sets them apart from other artists in the same genre. I think Eurodance is an apt category to put DJ Raaban and maybe even a little bit of hip house. While it is a little bit hard to place this song in a genre, I can tell you for sure how energizing this song. This song has a very pumped up sound to it. I feel this is what people would expect from some underground clubs in Germany or something. I could be totally wrong and can't say anything definitively about that because I have never been to Germany. But this is still a pretty dope song! There is a good mix between a harder and more intense sound and then the more light hearted main melodies. All in all, a pretty riveting song! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
