Whitney Houston and Jack Vidgen

Today I have music for you by one of the most iconic female singers of all time, Whitney Houston. This is a woman who overcame so many obstacles and poured her life and soul into her work. Whitney Houston was a woman who knew how to sing so powerfully with her emotions and there is a reason that her songs are some of the most notable songs people hear today. This song is one of my favorite songs by her. I know that this is a popular song by her but there is something so beautiful and strong and empowering about this song. The vocal control and overall talent in general in this song is out of this world. This is actually one of the songs that I personally believe Whitney Houston is known for. That vocal control is a testament to the incredible talent and beauty that Whitney Houston had. This is a ballad that never loses meaning. At some point in our lives we will all feel the way Whitney Houston felt in this song and you can feel that emotion surging throughout the whole song. This is actually one of the most thrilling and captivating ballads I have heard. Especially with the last chorus, I really get goosebumps. The way she hits that high note is absolutely incredible and really connects to the soul and heart. The fact that she sand this song just as magnificently live as she did in the recording is the cherry on top. Everything about this song is perfectly produced and placed and performed. I have to say, David Foster is one of the best producers in the business and I am glad that he was the one who helped Whitney Houston produce this song. There is no one who could have done a better job. Today's second song is actually my favorite cover of Whitney Houston's song. Jack Vidgen was a young teen when he sang this and the capability with which he sings this song is outstanding. I cannot believe how beautiful and strong he sounds. Every note is sung properly, every breath taken at the right time, every inflection placed well. And the best part is that he sings this song with so much emotion. There is so much power in the voices of soul, and today, you get two of these incredible voices. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Today's song is a really cool one out of South Africa by the band Kongos. There are so many awesome things happening in this song. For example the first sounds you hear is this really sick accordion work, and yes, these guys made the accordion look even cooler than any other musician out there has. I love the way they use the accordion and the tone of it. And then you hit the chorus which has these really strong vocals and you get the feel from the multiple voices with these sweet guitar licks and such a loud presence with the electric guitar. This song just kicks some major ass! Today's song is by the Beastie Boys, and is one of my favorite songs by them. Ima Robot and Tame Impala

Today I have a song for you by the band known as Ima Robot. Many of you will recognize this song because it is used in the show Suits. Disclaimer, Suits is a wonderfully fantastic show and I highly recommend you go watch it. Anyway, this song has a really cool and suave feel to it. It has that artsy urban grunge to it which I really like. It is a different way of performing rock music and takes you back to the 90's style of music. This song has a really cool charm to it because a lot of the song falls on the support of the bass guitar over the drums. The bass guitar serves as a secondary percussion to the rest of the instrumentals. It is actually kind of awesome how simple the instruments are in this song because when you bring the together you hear a really sick song. The main instruments are of course the bass guitar, tambourine, drums, and keyboard. Nothing else makes an appearance and I like it that way. The music in this song is so structured but so laid back at the same time.

Zayn Malik and Interstellar

Today I wanted to give a shout out to an artist who is both very famous and very underground. Most people know him as Zayn Malik, that guy who was in One Direction but left the band. So a little background, Zayn Malik was one of the five members of the famous boy band, One Direction. His departure from the band was all over the news last year, and I wont' lie, I felt bad for him. Not because he left the band, but because of what that meant for him in the public eye. It marked him as a huge target for papparzi and press, and I just feel so bad for him because he had to live in that public eye for so long. Which is one of the reasons why he wanted to leave. To live his life more quietly. So that of course, is a consequence of his level of fame. But on the other hand, we have his more quiet and surprising side.
