Sam Hunt and The Judge

Today I have some country music for you. It has been an insanely long time since I have posted any country music, so for those of you out there who are fans of country, this is for you! And I am sorry it took me this long to post one...but this song is by an artist called Same Hunt. Not only is he a fabulously good looking guy, his voice is equally as good. I have to say, one of the things that really sets country apart from other genres of music is this really genuine and warm sound to it. Every country song you hear always sounds so warm and cozy and really does remind you of a Texas sunset. This song in particular is one of those cute love songs that country singers have that use really interesting lyrics but it still works. Actually, only country songs could pull off lyrics that reference Levi jean, and boy does Sam Hunt pull it off well. This is one of those really nice feel good songs about having a swell time with a significant other and living life to the fullest with that person. I like the guitar in this song because there are three harmonies that are happening with the guitar alone. The harmonies are layered so well that they take the place of other filler instruments and the bass guitar. Something that is very different with this song however is the use of a hip hop inspired cadence. The first time I heard the song, I could tell something was different but could not necessarily pinpoint what it was. Second or third time around, I really heard that hip hop influence. You can really hear it at the beginning of the song and throughout the first verse. The drum beat is what gives it away I think. But this cadence is really nice for a song like this because it has this tamed energy to it that makes you feel happy inside but doesn't make you overly excited. This song really makes you feel like you are having a great time under starry skies and just taking everything one moment at a time. Sam Hunt has a really nice voice as well which doesn't hurt his case either. He has that characteristic twang that all country singers seem to have, but he does not overplay that twang which is always a great thing. All in all, I really do like this song by Sam Hunt, and seeing as he is a newer player into the world of country, I will be listening to more of his music. Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Judge. This movie looks so incredible and I cannot wait to go see it! The music in this movie is phenomenal, and yes, even though I have not seen the movie I did listen to the score. But that is also besides the point. From what I can tell, this soundtrack does a wonderful job of depicting both courtroom tension and family tension which is crucial for this movie. This song in particular tends to take more of a courtroom approach, but also has underlying tones of walking outdoors through fields. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
