The Script and Eagle Eye

Today I have some music for you by a band that I have fallen in love with time and time again. With this band, every new album reminds me of why I fell in love and rejuvenates my love for them. The Script is such and underrated band in my opinion. This is a band that has one of the most distinctively different styles compared to almost every band out there. Does it pain me that I have not seen them live yet? Most definitely. This is one of the only bands that knows exactly how to make me feel. It is one thing to feel the emotions of the singer and the feelings the band wants you to feel. It is another to understand them and internalize those feelings so that you start feeling those emotions about situations in your own life. When people say that a song truly understands them, to me that means that the song has allowed the listener to feel and see themselves the same way the singer views their own self. The Script has been able to do this for me in every album they have put out. Each album has a special story to tell as well. This album tells the story of the inspired ones. It tells the story of the people who rose from the lowest point in life and have come back strong. It tells the story of the lone wolf who returns leading the pack. This album is not mainly about the love one feels for another romantically, but about the love we feel for each other as humans. This song in particular though talks about rising from the pain of heartbreak. It doesn't have to be romantic heartbreak, but can be the loss of anyone. The name of the song itself is filled with inspiration and the song vibrates with positive energy and ambience. You can get lost in the world of senses and feeling with this song, and when the chorus comes, I really feel like I am not in a material plane of existence, but rather, floating in the free infinity of space. This is one of those songs that has the ability to ground you and allow to dream and go free. This song has the most beautiful melody line, especially the guitar line. It is that change from a major to a minor third. It is one of those special note progressions that seems to make everything turn into this ambient sound. I think you will know what I am talking about, especially since the beginning opens with that melody. It adds so much to how the song is supposed to make us feel. The musical composition of this song is simply perfect in my opinion. The drums are a nice thud that is the heartbeat of the broken heart. And then we move on to the lyrics which are not only emotional but also very clever. Really listen to the lyrics because it seems to contrast with the beauty and grace of the music. But then again, The Script has that special talent of making everything fit together like clockwork when it comes to the way we should feel. This song really uses the instruments well and uses way fewer electronic contributions unlike many bands these days. I think that is what adds this raw vulnerability to this song and album. Everything is bared to the world as it would sound if we heard them live. That vulnerability coupled with the strong vocals make this song and the entire album a masterpiece. The Script has done it again and made an album that will always be there for me whenever I am need of support. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Eagle Eye. While this movie was an action and suspense film, the music was spot on. This track is one of those rare beauties which we hear from movies like this. It captures a melancholy that sings of a little hope. This is a special kind of calm, one that swirls the dark and light together. I found this piece to be beautiful because it has elements and motifs which we would normally find sad and emotional coupled with phrases and motifs of a glittering hope, one that is far away but still existent. This piece is a gorgeous compliment to the first song and both are able to pull at the heart in a way only music can. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
