Wild Cub and Avatar

Today I have music for you by a band that I absolutely love! Wild Cub has such a great sound and they sound so different from a lot of the other indie bands out there. Just in general, they have music that is very different than a lot of others out there. One of the things that this band tends to focus more on is complexity in their melodies. Yes there is a repetition, but a lot of the song's focus is on the instrumentation of the song. The mood of the song changes with the instrumentation, from something more ambient to something that takes on a lot of energy. It is really cool to hear because this song does not have the super pumped up energy that a lot of other songs have. There is restraint to the speed and energy of the song and it does so much for creating the mood. This song is one of those that evokes different emotions and states of being. It does not evoke the normal emotions that songs usually do like love, but it brings out something that is definitely human, but something we seem to ignore as if it weren't there. It can be kind of hard to describe sometimes, but when you hear the song, you will understand it a little bit more. There is a dreamy nature to this song and it has a great focus on the atmosphere rather than trying to fit into conventional song structures. There are tinges of new wave throughout the song and the background features some really nice guitar work, especially with the nice little riffs. This band has a sound that is very summery and perfect for those warm nights. There is an infectious energy that surges throughout the song and it is nice because the energy is not the same kind. There are different levels and types of energy that power through the song. The other thing that makes this band so unique from all the others comes from the vocals. I have never heard vocals quite like the ones used by Wild Cub. They are very distinct and easy to recognize, but there is an enigmatic air to the vocals. Keegan DeWitt offer us a voice that is a little deep but one that has a slightly muffled sound. Sometimes the words almost sound as if they are slurring together but you can also tell what he is saying. Keegan DeWitt has a voice that is soothing and calming and just so pleasant. I really love his voice and I wish there were more people who appreciated his voice. There are only a few other singers that I feel this way about, one of them being Stephen Christian. Both of these men can sing like no other. But these two things, the instruments and voice, they really set Wild Cub apart and give us songs that are so incredibly fun to listen to. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Avatar. This song has a lot of the same elements as Wild Cub's song. Both of them switch between a softer sound and energy to something that is a little bit more vivacious and active. Both of them have wonderful percussion and this song in particular has an extremely ambient feeling to it. I hoe you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
