Steve Angello and Coldplay

Okay, today I am very excited to post this song because it is by one of the members of the most iconic trio in history, Swedish House Mafia. This song is by Steve Angello, a man who is a really great DJ and producer. This song features the beautiful vocals of Dougy from the band the Temper Trap (another great band to check out.) This song goes back to the old progressive house, the older style which made this genre what it is today. This song goes back to the roots of house music and I enjoy that so much because it seems to me that a lot of that sweetness has been sucked out of electronic music. There is not a crazy build up and there is so much more focus on the marriage between the vocals and the instrumentation. This song tells us a story in a beautiful way which is something that has not been done in the electronic world for a very long time. This song is a great example of how worlds can collide. With the main chorus, we get that electronic feel that Steve Angello provides, one that is restrained and held back from becoming wild and agressive. This goes in compliment to the verses of the song which pays tribute to the style of The Temper Trap. This song is so much more focused on the music and melodies and the goal is to get you to that special state of mind, that freedom which we all crave. That freedom that is associated with adolescents and that feeling of being invincible, that is what this song creates. I really like the restraint used in this song because it does make you want to dance but it also makes you pay attention to the lyrics, to the music, to melodies and harmonies. It makes you pay attention to the things that make up a great song instead of just how great the bass is. This song is a beautiful balance of indie and dance style music which brings so much more to the forefront of music. In an interview, Steve Angello addressed the use of guitars and strings in this song. Electronic songs don't use this and that is the precise reason as to why he decided to use actual instruments. There is a special element of really feeling the live perspective and really feeling the music when you are playing it with instruments that you hold in your hands. When this song is performed live, it may be the most incredible experience. The chorus is so moving even though it is still on the dance side of things. Yes you will be dancing to this song, but you will also be thinking. You will be thinking about what it is like to really feel alive and free. This song is a great personification of feeling energy and life really course through your veins and I only wish I could be there to see these two phenomenal artists perform this live. Today's instrumental song is another great crossover between rock and electronic. This song is pretty popular now because it is Coldplay, but it really gets into the depths of loss and love but still seeing the good in life and in the world. This song sounds like what life is all about. This song is so amazing with its great use of the original instruments and the electronic side. With this song you also feel incredibly free and happy and nothing can prevent the smile that will cross your face, especially when you listen to this while driving with the windows down or doing something utterly mad but exciting. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
