Pitbull, Claudia Leitte, & Jennifer Lopez and Shakira

As many of you know, this year is the year of the FIFA World Cup. Now, I absolutely love football (soccer). This is a sport that people from literally every country watch and it is a sport that brings the world together. Part of me feels like FIFA is more unifying than the Olympics! This year we have seen some epic games and every game has been super exciting. The official song for the World Cup is also super exciting and I really like the fact that Pitbull decided to tone it down a little bit. This song sounds more appropriate for FIFA and I honestly think this is one of the best songs he has ever put out. This song really captures the feel of South America and the festive spirit of Brazil. The lyrics to this song are also very encompassing of the entire world and how football is something that can bring us together, even if its just for a moment. This song has a great beat and a phenomenally catchy chorus that really represents the energetic, fun, and vivacious nature of Brazil. While it is repetitive, it is an appealing repetition that doesn't get annoying very quickly. The lyrics in this song are really good. The way I see it, we raise our representative flags and feel proud of our country, but come together under the single flag that represents the one world we live in. This song celebrates our individuality in cooperation and coming together. I also am very happy that Pitbull decided to include Claudia Leitte. Not only is she a phenomenal singer, but she brings that Brazilian feel to the song. Some people argue that there is not enough of a Brazilian touch to the song, but I still thoroughly enjoy this song and the fact that it still does encompass sounds from all over the world. This song has a great dance beat to it, as is expected of a song for this kind of event. FIFA is full of life and energy, fun and excitement, and this song is able to bring that across. The beats are not heavily focused on a bass sound like most Pitbull songs. This song makes incredible use of drums of all kinds, guitar chords, wind instruments, and whistling. There is this enchanting and addicting sound to the chorus of this song that makes me really feel like I could be in Brazil. I think this was a fine choice for the World Cup song. Today's instrumental song is by one of my favorite Latin artists and a former World Cup singer- Shakira. If you look up the word "perfection" in the dictionary, Shakira's face will pop up. Her music is so amazing because everything takes on this idea of worldbeat. Everyone of her songs has a Latin feel with the twist of some other country's style. This song in particular takes on a really good version of worldbeat. There is of course the Latin feel mixed with the Western style of bass. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
