One Direction and Road To Perdition

Today I have a really beautiful song for you by One Direction. While I am not a directioner, I cannot deny the vocal talent that theses kiddos have. I think what really makes this group work beside the boyish charms and "boy band" factor is that fact that these guys can really belt out a moving song. The greatest asset is the way they harmonize. Sometimes it is a simple harmony and other times it is a four part harmony along with the main line. I can tell you right now that harmonizing is not an easy task, but they way these five guys have harmonies weave in and out of the main line so effortlessly and very smoothly is very impressive. I won't deny it, I really love this song. The vocalization they came up with for this song is really quite brilliant. A lot of the charm and sweetness to this song is the use of less instruments and relying more on the voices. The harmonization in this song is what makes this song really quite beautiful. Are some of the lyrics cliche? Yes. But can these five guys make those cliche things sound really romantic? Heck yes. Add a guitar in the mix and this song really comes full circle. I really enjoy the simplicity of the song. Something about it being simple makes it seem more genuine because it feels more like an outpouring of the soul rather than a love song meant to be a marketing campaign. We don't hear the drum set clearly until the second verse and up until then we get to hear the almost acoustic nature of just the vocals and the guitar. One thing I have noticed about this song is that when I hear this song and sing along, I am able to feel the same sadness. To be honest, it can be pretty tough to make someone feel the same emotions that the song conveys when the listener sings along, but with this song, its almost as if my voice was able to have that raw emotion. I can't feel the sadness of a heartbreak, but I definitely know the pain of separation from someone important and it is really incredible to be able to bring that into singing. This song is heart breakingly romantic just like the Notebook, but less lovey dovey. By taking the ballad route, One Direction is able to really make this song hit home and tells the individual stories that each member brings to the story. This song is charming and sweet and definitely a great song to listen to. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Road To Perdition. This movie, while being intense, is one that can really get to the heart of yourself. Even though the story line is unlikely to happen to most people, there are elements to the plot that happen to everyone. The most touching part of this movie is the description of the many relationships between a father and son. This movie is absolutely amazing as is the music. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
