Linkin Park and Game Of Thrones

Today I have some epic music for you. Linkin Park seems to be quite masterful in the art of making epic songs. It is almost as if they don't have to try very hard to make things sound really bad ass. This song in particular focuses heavily on the bass guitar and percussion. Even the rapping is flawlessly epic and it has this powerful energy. This song has all the power and strength that comes with a song that is full of energy and dark sounds. There is a tribal guttural sound that really makes this song the great sound that it is. The lead singer Chester Bennington has this forceful sound to the guttural singing and it reminds me of the Dothraki from Game of Thrones. The way they speak and the way he sings is so perfect for this growling song. Gosh, Linkin Park is just so capable of creating a song that can take your breath away because it is that incredibly wicked. Now if we talk about the instrumentation of this song, there is much to appreciate. For starters, the song opens up with some sick guitar work. It is simple in design yet authoritative and robust in sound. There is a darkness to this song that we can feel from the beginning with this guitar solo. The majority of this song relies on a bass drum to create that tribal feel to it. In fact, this song runs on the different percussion that the song uses. Different types of drums and the keyboards serve as the backbone of this song. Even if you took out the guitar, the song would not be missing much as all the guitar really does is provide a long sustained note for the chorus. The main melodies lie with the percussion. It is very unique to hear that in a song as most bands rely more on the guitars to make the dynamic sounds. This song is just wicked cool and extremely intense, especially during the chorus that is set a note higher than the rest of the song. Epic. Today's instrumental song is from one of the most epic TV shows of our age and possibly of all time. Game Of Thrones has everything you could ever want from a TV show. There is romance, fights, danger, mystery, thrill...and of course, the most incredible scenery and bad guys and plotting. Seriously, this is an epicly phenomenal show. And of course if you have a show like this, only a score of the same caliber can accompany this show. The composer, Ramin Djawadi beyond brilliant. Every scene has the perfect music to accompany it. Every emotion, every loss, every win, everything is so beautifully captured by this composer. This score is very percussion based and features music from many different cultural influences. It is through the marriage of percussion and orchestral sounds from all over the world that this score is able to achieve the level of suspense and heart wrenching emotion. That is what makes this score great. It explores all ranges of human emotions the way the show itself makes the characters discover the ranges of emotion. This is a soundtrack that I am able to listen to all the time and at anytime because it is all that incredible. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
