Arijit Singh and Hum Tum

Today I have an absolutely beautiful Bollywood song for you from the movie Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. This song is sung by one of my favorite Indian singers in the world of music-Arijit Singh. This song just has the cute sweetness that you associate with pictures of couples in Paris or talking moonlit walks along the streets of a city. There is something innately beautiful and romantic about this song. Even if you take away the lyrics and the voices, the music itself conveys something so magical and lovely and content. This song has a really simple melody, but that reflects something about the song in a special way. The melody does repeat itself, and yes it is simple, but the words of the song sing about the beauty of simplicity. In this song, whether you understand the lyrics or not, the message is clearly about love. But an abridged translation of this song goes along the lines of saying that your love is your heart and soul. How can you explain what it is like to have the love of your life without you? This song is saying that without your love, your heart is anxious and always seeks out its other half. However, no matter where your love is, you will always be waiting no matter what. This song is just so sweet that it makes me smile so much. I won't lie to you, I was listening to this song while it was thunder storming outside and the raindrops added a graceful and elegant addition to the song. When you hear this song it will make sense as to why the rain is a great accompaniment and how marvelously romantic this song is. There is a video on YouTube which features only rain falling. I recommend you listen to this song without the rain in the background and then a second time with the rain spilling from the sky. It is just magnificent. But onto the instrumentation of this song! This song features a guitar and drum set, but also has a lot of Indian instruments in the background. The flute you hear is an Indian flute and many of the miscellaneous percussion sounds are Indian instruments as well. That is what I love about songs like these. While it is done by another culture, the music completes each other and surpasses every other language. Even without me explaining the lyrics, this is clearly a love song and Arijit Singh sings this song with so much passion and excellence. His voice is one of my favorites for reasons that are hopefully obvious to you all! I can tell you right now, I will be listening to this incessantly for a few days. Anytime you want to think about your significant other or just feel that warmth of being in love, this song will take care of you. Today's instrumental song is another romantic Hindi song from the movie Hum Tum. This movie is great! It is dramatic and funny and romantic and fun. This song is all about love as well and it really gets straight to the heart. The video below for the song is taken from the actual movie so you will get to see the context in which you hear the song. It is very touching and sweet. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
