Today's song is by a band called White Lies. The tune of this song is brilliant! I really love the heavy bass guitar use. This song has a solid drum line and the guitar line harmonizes with the vocals really well. The singer has a deep voice that kind of reminds me of Marilyn Manson. I absolutely love how the song's tone doesn't match the lyrics. I wouldn't have expected the chorus to be set to the music that it has been set to, but I think the White Lies did a fantastic job of meshing the two. Today's instrumental song of the day is definitely more mellow than the White Lies, but I found it a little while ago and really wanted to post it on here. This song is by a Texan rock group called Explosions in the Sky, which in my opinion, is a pretty sweet name. They really use their acoustic guitar well and their drums, but it doesn't sound like a mash up of different instruments just playing. There is a distinct beginning, middle, and end to the song. Not only that, but it is just a beautiful song to listen to! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
Splitter and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Today I have some music for you that is so refreshing because it is just some good old rock and roll. This song is by a band called Splitter, a name that I would automatically think would suit a more metal sound. But this song is what I think the Beatles would sound like if they had a little heavier rock. And I love it! This song has a lot of the older rock elements that have become classic, but the lyrics and style of guitar playing is very modern. That combination is pretty damn swell when we hear it in a song like this. I mean you take the guitar solo that is thrown in the middle, and that just screams rock and roll. And then of course we have the vocals which remind me so much of Paul McCartney. This is definitely what a modern day Beatles would sound like, and there is nothing wrong with that! Every kind of artists needs some evolution, it just so happens that a second band proves to be a bit of that evolution for the Beatles. This song opens up with a repeated guitar rhythm ...
