Matthew Koma and Cash Cash

Image
Today I have some new music for you by Matthew Koma. Now, a lot of people recognize him and his voice from the heavy involvement he has in the EDM industry. I mean this is a man who has worked with artists from Zedd to Ryan Tedder to Shania Twain. Not only his does he span so many genres with his influence, but he is also involved in so many different parts. He has been a lead singer, a featured singer, and an incredibly accomplished songwriter. I mean there are a lot of huge hits that were written by Matthew Koma, so I fully believe in his abilities and skills. This is a new song by him, and is one where he is the lead artist. This is a pretty explosive new song. Not only is it catchy, but it has some elements that are similar to his EDM work, while also featuring some pop characteristics. This song features a smooth but slightly sassy conversation between the saxophone and the cosmic synths. Of course we have some house beats to create a nice support for the song, but there is also t...

A R I Z O N A and Seven Lions

Image
Today I have some really chilled out music by A R I Z O N A. It has been a really long time since I posted anything chillstep related, and I heard this song and kind of fell in love. What I like about this song so much is how ambient it is. A lot of times you get chillstep that really takes on the idea of being a more relaxed and easy going song. But with this song, we get to hear more of the ambient and almost trance-like kind of sound that accompanies some electronic music. Everything about this song works so well and fits like clockwork. There is just enough synth, the right amount of percussion, and the perfectly low level of bass to make this a song that goes beyond the stereotypical kind of electronic song. This is also a song that doesn't follow that conventional equation for making music. It doesn't really have a build up or climax and doesn't have a lot of variability in terms of vocals. This is an easy going song in all aspects. This song just has this awesome vib...

Bipolar Sunshine and Game Of Thrones

Image
Today I have music for you by the artist known as Bipolar Sunshine. This is a one man project, and I have to say, he is quite impressive. This is my favorite song by Bipolar Sunshine for a few reasons. First of all, the overall musicality of this song is absolutely brilliant. The actual instrumentation is quite simple in this song, relying more on percussion and some keyboards and synth work. There is a little bit guitar, but only to increase the energy and make the song feel like it is slightly speeding up. But that is basically all that Bipolar Sunshine uses to support the song. Even though it is simple, it still has the ability to be both a melody and harmony at the same time. The music is a melody of its own, but also serves as a wonderful harmony support for the singing portions of the song. A lot of the other "musical" characteristics comes from the group singing sounds that Bipolar Sunshine has in this song. This song starts out slower and then builds and builds and bu...

Cheat Codes and Bag Raiders

Image
Today I have some music for you by a group know as Cheat Codes. This is a perfect song for your summer jams and bright days. This is the kind of song that won't allow you to feel down or low. True to it's name, Cheat Codes is the kind of group that wants you to get to the next level of life and happiness and just all around feel good times as soon as possible and as easily as possible. Which definitely explains why their music is so upbeat and fun and bubbly. This is a kind of shimmering synth pop type of sound, the kind that makes you really feel that joyful and playful nature run through your veins. This song has a huge hook and groovy twist that makes it something catchy and irresistible, and the pristine production of this song makes it something clean cut. This is definitely a song that likes to hang out on the border of synthpop and house music, but either way, it is the kind of song that you could remix to sway either way. The synthesized guitar and keyboards make it so...

Aquilo and The Gladiator

Image
Today I have music for you by the duo known as Aquilo. Now they don't have a lot of music out, but the music they do have is absolutely spectacular and magical. There is this sense of simplicity and calm to the music they compose and write. And with that simplicity comes a dreamily sad kind of sound. But this is the kind of darker sound that seeps into your skin and soul. But the thing is, it doesn't fill you with sadness, rather just brings you down to this level of serenity and calm. Weird I know, but it just works so magically. This song gives you chills, and has so many emotions all in one that you feel a wave of everything wash over you. Aquilo is a really special band because their music has a story to tell. This video in itself is a two part story, the second half to a tale of sadness and heartache. The two songs in this mini series are actually the same story told from different perspectives. This one is done from the perspective of a boy in love with a girl who is spir...

Barcelona and Foals

Image
Today I have a really chill song for you by an impressive trio who go by the name Barcelona. This band has a phenomenal mix of indie, electronic, and pop. And these guys successfully make their music have more of an indie feel than pop which I find rather refreshing. The lead singer has a very strong voice that has a calming effect on the listener. I also love how he has a different kind of soul to his voice. This song definitely is synth heavy but it also relies on a solid bass drum beat. This song has a very chill vibe to it but its one of those chill vibes that you can dance and get down to. I always find myself either swaying or at least moving my shoulders when listening to this song and band. Go check them out! Today's instrumental song is the instrumental song of an absolutely amazing song by Foals. I have to say, this is one band that I think everyone can get into because their music is pretty versatile. The guitar solo in this song is just awesome and the overall feel of t...

Emancipator and Odesza

Image
Hey guys! I am back with more music for you! I spent the last day and evening out on a boat, so posting was something that wasn't really going to happen. But we are back in the groove of things and that is all that matters! So today, I have some really cool electronic music for you. This kind of electronic music though is slower and more beat based rather than high intensity and bass based. Emancipator is a musician out of Portland and has some of the coolest underground sounds ever! Emancipator has this awesome style which leaves you in this psychedelic state of mind. This is the kind of song that takes the emotive nature of music and gives it this incredible synth twist. Not going to lie, the slow nature of this song takes on an almost seductive kind of sound and I think that is absolutely fantastic. The thing that is so great about Emancipator is that his music is never the same. There is this constant dynamism between songs, even if the songs themselves are more mellow and slow...
