Today I have a really chill song for you by an impressive trio who go by the name Barcelona. This band has a phenomenal mix of indie, electronic, and pop. And these guys successfully make their music have more of an indie feel than pop which I find rather refreshing. The lead singer has a very strong voice that has a calming effect on the listener. I also love how he has a different kind of soul to his voice. This song definitely is synth heavy but it also relies on a solid bass drum beat. This song has a very chill vibe to it but its one of those chill vibes that you can dance and get down to. I always find myself either swaying or at least moving my shoulders when listening to this song and band. Go check them out! Hey guys! I am back with more music for you! I spent the last day and evening out on a boat, so posting was something that wasn't really going to happen. But we are back in the groove of things and that is all that matters! So today, I have some really cool electronic music for you. This kind of electronic music though is slower and more beat based rather than high intensity and bass based. Emancipator is a musician out of Portland and has some of the coolest underground sounds ever! Emancipator has this awesome style which leaves you in this psychedelic state of mind. This is the kind of song that takes the emotive nature of music and gives it this incredible synth twist. Not going to lie, the slow nature of this song takes on an almost seductive kind of sound and I think that is absolutely fantastic. Today's song is by an indie band out of New Jersey called Real Estate. This band makes everything seem so effortless. The ease with which they weave simple melodies with intricate guitar work is just incredible and so appealing. This song has this interesting calming effect but also has this psychedelic element in the sense that it can transport you to a different place. This song takes me to one of two places, one being walking on a beach on a cloudy day and another of just sitting in a coffee shop on a gloomy day with something warm to drink. But those kind of mental feelings are kind of what you get. Today's instrumental song is from the Pixar short, The Blue Umbrella. This is just a very sweet song and I think its quite cute. Today I have music for you by one of my favorite rappers of all time. Macklemore seems to get little credit for his ability to create music that is inspiring and wonderful. This song has a beautiful back story to it, one that you can read on Macklemore's website. But the gist of the story has to do with Macklemore realizing the truth of fatherhood. How it comes suddenly, and is a roller coaster of emotions until the day the baby arrives. This song is about what he wants his daughter to remember as she is growing. And it is a constant reminder to us of what we should keep in mind and remember to do. This song has some of the greatest lyrics I have heard from a rapper. And that makes me so happy and proud to be able to hear an artist forego the normal topics of rap and take on things that really matter. Today I have some foreign music for you! I have been posting mostly Indian music in the foreign category, so I thought I would shake it up by posting some Korean music. This song is one that you won't be able to get out of your head. What I like about BIGBANG is that they are not afraid to make their music dark. I mean in general, boy bands are not too dark, but I think BIGBANG does a really great job of that. They don't shy away from being like princes of darkness, and take that mantle up well. From their eclectic videos to signature wardrobe, BIGBANG redefines what it means to be a boy band. The stereotypical boy band is generally a pop sound that is meant to make all the girls swoon and cry. But BIGBANG throws all that crap in the trash and goes for some crazy fun and awesome sounds. Today I have some older music for you, music that will take you back to a time of romance and starry skies and large ballrooms. This song was in my head all day, and I could not get enough of Nat King Cole's voice. This song is one of my favorite by him, with only one person able to top his performance of this song. And that one person happens to be his daughter, so that seems a little fitting. But this song is so incredible romantic and sweet and all I want is to slow dance with a man to this song. It has that older kind of intimacy to it. The kind that makes you feel like you are the only two people in the world, swirling around and around on the wooden dance floor. Today, I have some more exciting and fun music for you guys. Today, I wanted to celebrate a big achievement, the fact that this is my 1000th blog post! I started this blog 3 years ago, and it makes me so happy that you all still enjoy the music! I mean music is everything to me, and being able to share my thoughts and excitement and love for music with you all, well, it is amazing. So today, I have some faster paced and dance worthy music for all of you wonderfully fantastic people out there! I hope you enjoy both of these songs, and get down a bit!
