Justice Skolnik and Alicia Keys

Today I have some music for you by a producer who has definitely found  a niche within the world of underground music. Justice Skolnik is a producer hailing from San Francisco, and I am an absolute fan of his style of music. The easiest breakdown of how this song sounds would be euro pop mixed with tropical house.

This song in particular tends to take on a slightly darker, more mellowed out side of music, but that is what makes the blend of this song so great. There is just enough of a tropical sound to keep this a more light hearted and beachy song, but the other synths and programmed notes and the piano work all give the song a little bit more of a nighttime feel. And while this is not necessarily a song you can really dance to, it is one of those songs that has you bobbing without even thinking abut it. I mean I was left unconsciously moving to the rhythm of the song. Especially with the way the song flows, you are transported to another state of mind. This is the kind of song that you listen to with your eyes closed as you let the music wash over you, and coerces you to give into this musical ecstasy.

Justice Skolnik has done a really great job with making this a song that is equally dynamic and constant. The overall bass and melody of the song do not change throughout, but there are little nuances here and there that give the song so much more character and personality. There is a wonderful dynamism to the music, which causes the song to come alive. The way the piano is seamlessly included in the background instrumentals of the song is absolutely perfect and definitely makes this song even more palatable. It is a slower and smooth piano introduction, which works so well with this song. Instead of immediately going into something that is fast paced and energized, we are introduced to this slow jam piano sound. Which then gives way into a sexy tropical house kind of sound. This has such a great groove to it and takes on the sound of something that is great for a slower jam at a club. There is energy and life within the song, but it is definitely meant to have a little more sensuality to it, which we are definitely able to pick up on.

Again with electronic music being the way it is, we are blessed with some really nice vocals, provided by Jeremy Zucker. I had never heard of him as a vocalist until hearing this song, but I really do like his voice. There is a rich depth to his voice, and it gives this song a more chilled out and smooth vibe. EDM singers always bring their A-game, and Jeremy Zucker does just that in this song. When you layer his deeper voice with the bouncier and more care free instrumentals, we get a balanced song and a great start to the evening. Justice Skolnik is an artist to watch out for. There are so many emerging EDM artists, and I am glad to have started getting a taste of this untapped group of music. While Justice Skolnik is an artist I don't regularly follow, his music is nothing short of entertaining and fun.

Today's instrumental song is by Alicia Keys. While I have posted a version of this song before, I wanted to post this again to enforce how similar the beginnings are between songs.  It is almost uncanny! But the directions that the songs go into vary greatly post introduction. It is incredible to see how production can be so unique which causes two songs with similar beginnings to have vastly differing sounds and tones.  I really like that kind of sound for both Alicia Keys and Drake. It somehow suits them and makes a great side track from the way they normally perform. I love this song, and I think it was so well done! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
