Gorillaz and Muse

Today I have some long awaited, incredible music for you. We have been waiting for new music by the British band Gorillaz for over five years. Five. Years. And my oh my did they satisfy! One of the cool things about Gorillaz, is that we never know what to expect from them. Their sound is so eclectic and strange, the persona they have is unique, and their choice of musicality and lyricism is out of this world. There are so many things which make this band a special one, a band that we can't help but want to know more about and hear from. The greatest thing though is that no song sounds the same, and each album is entirely different from the rest. Gorillaz tends to follow some kind of rock and rap combination, however, the way the two are combined is up for experimentation. Gorillaz is a band that experiments with different sounds and somehow is able to find the strangest and greatest combinations. With this song, we get a rock slow jam which features Jamaican style vocals. Normally, this would be a combination that is super weird and honestly a bit unsatisfactory. However, the way Gorillaz blends the two is just an absolute masterpiece. We get to hear the signature vocals of Gorillaz, which features more of a speech like recitation in a fuzzy and muffled voice. Jamaican artists Popcaan comes in with his vocals and delivers a sinister sounding verse on top of a rumbling bass and synth line. Everything about this song captures that intriguingly creepy and weird sound that we fell in love with when Gorillaz first became popular. The song has everything for odd lyrics to guttural rhythms to siren like flashes spread out through the song. The overall sensation we get with this song is so characteristically Gorillaz, that you can't help but feel that throwback to 2010. There is a dark fantasy to this song, and to the album as a whole. And the way Gorillaz presents that darker sound is something only they could pull off. There is this alien-esque and strangeness to the music which perfectly captures who Gorillaz is. The band also released the music video for this song, which seems to have broken the internet. The virtual reality and 360 video format garnered millions of views in just two days. I have to admit, the video is so weird and trippy, and I didn't want that to influence the way you hear the song. That is why I have posted the audio version of the single. If this is just the first single, you can imagine how phenomenal the rest of the album is. In fact, this album has got to be one of the most epic we will hear in 2017. The list of features is incredibly, with people like Vince Staples and Jehnny Beth coming in. Gorillaz did a fine job of getting vocalists who will work with and around the stylistic elements of the band. But on the flip side, it is also clear that Gorillaz changes up parts to fit with the vocalists' talents. Yes, this album took over five years to be released, but it was well worth it. Gorillaz delivered again with this album, in that eccentric and plain strange way that the band does things. Even if you aren't an avid listener of Gorillaz, I highly recommend this album. Gorillaz has really done an awesome job of producing a song that is not only classic but has that uniqueness to make it stand out. The wait was worth it! Today's instrumental song is by a band that I was in love with for so long. Muse is another one of those British bands which grabbed us all and made us fans forever. This band is one that has evolved so much, yet never fails to disappoint. Now this song is actually from an album that a lot of people didn't like or wasn't super engaged by. I highly disagree with these people, and have to say that The 2nd Law was one of my all time favorites! This song incorporates a seamless blend of guitar and electronic to make all the notes and guitar lines work perfectly. The lead singer was able to be the guitar and synth because of that blend, and it works so well. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
