White Lies and Explosions In The Sky
Today's song is by a band called White Lies. The tune of this song is brilliant! I really love the heavy bass guitar use. This song has a solid drum line and the guitar line harmonizes with the vocals really well. The singer has a deep voice that kind of reminds me of Marilyn Manson. I absolutely love how the song's tone doesn't match the lyrics. I wouldn't have expected the chorus to be set to the music that it has been set to, but I think the White Lies did a fantastic job of meshing the two. Today's instrumental song of the day is definitely more mellow than the White Lies, but I found it a little while ago and really wanted to post it on here. This song is by a Texan rock group called Explosions in the Sky, which in my opinion, is a pretty sweet name. Explosions in the Sky is one of the very few instrumental rock bands out there. There have been instrumental covers done of songs, but everything Explosions in the Sky does is original. I find that extremely impressive because they have to convey the same swells and crescendos and distinct moments without the help of a vocalist. They really use their acoustic guitar well and their drums, but it doesn't sound like a mash up of different instruments just playing. There is a distinct beginning, middle, and end to the song. Not only that, but it is just a beautiful song to listen to! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
