Echosmith and The Hobbit

Today I have some music for you by the band known as Echosmith. What I like about this song is the calm atmosphere the song has. This song is definitely one that is more intent on finding the right atmospheric sound to accompany the vocals. From the beginning of the song, we hear the synth and lightly strummed guitars which then gives way to the lyrics. The instrumentals to this song are just as important, if not even more so than the actual lyrics. When combined with the wispy vocals, this song has a rounded feeling of innocence. It talks about a normal adolescent issue and has the innocent feel to go with the idea of being lost. I would go as far as to say this song has an effervescent nature to it in the sense that there is an almost breezy feel to the song. It is one of those that provides energy, but does so in a very controlled manner. It is like restraining a wild horse and taming it to suit your needs. This song took the wilder energy and molded it to fit the sound of a more indie feel. There is a very interesting way as to how the instrumentals were done. For one, it does feature the conventional drum set that every band uses. And of course it features some really great synth work. But what I thought was the best was the fact that the bass guitar makes up quite a bit of the song. Sometimes it even serves as the melody which is much rarer to hear. I personally love the bass guitar and was very satisfied with the presentation of the bass guitar. The drummer also happens to by fifteen years old and all I can say is that I am impressed! Echosmith is definitely a band that is worth watching for in the future. While this song has gotten big recently, I hope some of their music stays a little bit more on the down low. Hopefully that would mean we hear a little bit more of that indie influence and the 80's feel. This song does actually have some 80's influence in it, but the way it has been mixed in with the rest of the music, the sound has been modernized. That is something really different because many other bands either keep the 80's sound or just stick with the more modern sound. But this band has taken that 80's sound and then modernized it so that it maintains that 80's beat while featuring newer melodies and rhythms. The vocals to this song are definitely on the softer and higher pitched side of the spectrum. But it does fit very well with the style of music that this takes and I think this band in general has a spectacular future. Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Hobbit. This is one of the most iconic themes in the recent decade. It has been featured in one of the most phenomenal trilogies in all time and has now begun to make its way through another incredible trilogy. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
