Today I have some music for you by the DJ RL Grimes. Well actually, this is a remix of a popular song right now, but this song changes the entire sound of the original. This song is originally performed by The Weeknd. This is an artist who is known for his slow jams, and songs that are more along the sensual and seductive side of things. His songs are not necessarily very hype and energetic, which is totally okay! But with this remix, we get something that is the total opposite of that. Now this is no a happy electronic song. This falls closer to melodic dubstep in my opinion, but what I like about the remix RL Grime made is that it is very unique and original in its own way. This remix has a greater intensity to it, a sound that is great for the electronic music world. He doesn't necessarily let go of the sexy nature of the original song, but adding a build up and climax to the song takes away some of the sex appeal that this song has. Today I have an extremely fun song for you by the artist known as Bobby Green. I am absolutely in love with this song and Bobby Green as an artist. I won't lie, a major reason that I love this song is because of the vocalist Sean Michael Murray. But this song is such a nice change of pace from the bass and beat heavy EDM we hear nowadays. This isn't a song that has moments that make you stop and listen. You are captured from the beginning. The song is so well produced and is very crisp, while also foregoing the heavy beat drops in favor of something more delectable. The composition of this song is actually pretty simple! This song has a synth oriented and non complex beat, which means it works extremely well for the lyrical content of the song. Throw in the electronic dance beats, and you have a song that meshes the vocals and instrumentals in a seamless way. Today I have some music for you by a band that I haven't heard much of lately. The Cab was one of my favorite bands in high school, but somehow I started to drift away from them. But I recently started listening to them again, and found this gem of a song. It has been quite a while since I posted any music by an alternative band like this, and I thought this would be an awesome time for me to not only post music from a rock band, but also post a song that is more of a plot twist in terms of the sound of the song. Today I have some music for you by Armand Van Helden. Now this is a guy who has been around in the music industry for a very long time. Not many know him, but Armand Van Helden is one of the biggest influences in the New York electronic music scene. He works with all kinds of genres, from funk to R&B to hardcore EDM. What I find really cool about Armand Van Helden is that despite the fact that he has been such a presence in the music scene of the Northeast, his music still sounds underground. There are still so many elements of his music that sound really nice and underground, very unique and quirky. If you want further reference, there is a song by him that has gotten really popular. The name that he went by for that song though, is Duck Sauce. Go look it up, and you will know exactly which famous song I am talking about. Today I have music for you. This is an artist who really took the new year in stride. MO even went as far as to produce a song about the new year. Which I honestly found really cool! I haven't heard many artists sing to bring in the new year. But as usual, MO has created a really catchy and cool song for us. This isn't holiday festive or anything, and she sticks with her normal sound. This song is chill and great for just hanging out and lounging around. MO has a great voice, one that doesn't get you super hyped up but also doesn't get to your feels. I mean this is a song that is supposed to be celebratory song! And MO does a great job of making this a song that us exciting but also something that is more calm and relaxed. Today marks the last day of 2015. This was year full of a lot of surprises. There were some great moments, and some saddening moments. There were some tragic events and some that marked new beginnings and new life. Today's music is a compilation of the biggest songs from 2015. These are the songs we jammed out to, the songs we danced to. These are the songs that made us smile, the songs that we sang our hearts out to. These are the songs that made us cry and remember what it is like to really feel. These are the songs that made us feel alive. This is 2015 in review, the songs that defined the year. Today I have music for you by a band that was pretty popular in the mid 2000s. The Bravery is a band that has a really interesting mix of being a little punk, a little alternative, and a little old school. There is more electronic work in this than most other punk bands, but there is still that nice human aspect to it. It is so nice to be able to hear a guitar and drums and keyboard being played, giving the song a more down to earth feeling. There is a more raw energy that comes from playing music with your bare hands. This song is definitely more uptempo, more fun, and takes on the more revival age of rock music. I really like that! I have really missed rock songs like this, the kind of songs that have a little bit of a grungier or more garage sound to them. The 90's kind of rock feel.
