Saint Raymond and The Lion King

Image
Today I have an absolutely amazing song for you guys by an artist called Saint Raymond. This song is one of the best ones I have heard this whole  year, and there are so many beautiful and incredible things happening in this song. From the beginning we get a taste of their beautiful guitar and synth work. This combination kind of makes the song for me. There are darker undertones to this song, yet there is something so inspirational and uplifting about the song. The chorus energy and melody is one of those that immerses your entire being into the music and feeling that the music is trying to evoke from you. There is an intense release that comes with this song, as if you are letting all the worries and sadness and negativeness flow out from you. I feel a great richness and freedom in my soul, wings that are spreading and allowing me to fly and see the world and do the things I want. This song makes me feel like I am at the top of a difficult climb, overseeing the depths of a canyon...

Ferry Corsten and Artistic Raw

Image
Today I have some electronic music for you because it has been quite some time since we have had a nice dose of that. This first song is by Ferry Corsten. Now this song is a pretty sick mix between EDM trance and house. This song is absolutely wicked and extremely well produced. For starters, this song features an incredible vocalist, Nat Dunn. If there is one thing everyone can appreciate about electronic music, the DJ's and artists always pick vocalists who are not only low key, but are also talented beyond belief. I have yet to hear an electronic song that features a vocalist I have not been impressed by. Nat Dunn is a powerhouse, with a voice that is both rich and even a little bit sultry. Where you can really get blown away though is in the chorus when she belts out the two words that really make the song. It is just waves of power from her voice and there is this underlying rasp and rawness to the way she sings the chorus that really gives the song dynamism and character. The...

Ed Sheeran and Paper Towns

Image
Today I have music for you by the wonderfully talented Ed Sheeran. He is an artist that has really gained traction and taken off within the past few years. I won't lie, I had no idea where he had come from the first time I heard one of his songs. He sprang up out of nowhere! But now I hear his music everywhere. Ed Sheeran has the rare ability to connect and appeal to all music listening groups. He can melt the hearts of all the young girls out there, looking for a prince to sweep them away. He expresses the hardships and emotional states of the older crowd, hitting on topics that the younger groups cannot understand. He is able to hit us with some R&B styled music, acoustic ballads, energetic choruses, and show stopping EDM vocals. All the while, remaining the adorable and sweet human being we perceive him to be. So with this song, we get a couple of different parts of Ed Sheeran's diverse dossier. This song is a beautiful song. Absolutely beautiful. This is a song that is ...

Zara Larsson and Diplo

Today I have some music for you by the Swedish artist Zara Larsson. A little background on her, she won a Swedish talent show in her mid teens, and then went on to score a record label and start releasing her own music. Pretty impressive for a girl who is just 18. I mean I haven't done anything that would get me local recognition, let alone global notice. So go Zara Larsson! So this song is one that showcases her abilities as a vocalist and song writer. This is a fun, upbeat, summer kind of anthem. This is a song that is both catchy and unique in the way it sounds. For starters, it is a great mix of tropical sounds and electronic pop. The song starts out with very few elements, keeping it simple and sweet. It does start to pick up, especially when adding in the tropical melodies and harmonies. There is quite a bit of had clapping involved throughout the song, and you can also catch moments when you get to hear the guitar and piano that are also in the background. This song is packe...

Dhoom and Delirious & Alex K

Image
Today I have some really cool music for you. Both of these songs have an ethnic and cultural feel to them, so that shakes things up a bit! This first song is an older song from the world of Bollywood. Now it isn't super old, as in from the 70's or 80's. But this song comes from the early years of my childhood and strangely enough, is one that I still remember listening to for the first time. This song comes from the movie Dhoom, a trilogy of movies centered around a cop and catching criminals. This is the main theme for the first of these movies. This is the first song to represent the series, and I love it! I have actually heard some sick remixes of this song, but haven't been able to find them on YouTube, which is a tragedy. But all three movies have had awesome theme songs. Each one has been different, depending on the plot of the movie. But all in all, definitely am happy with the way the songs turned out. So this one being the oldest, being the original, features a...

Barcelona and Oblivion

Image
Today I have some music for you by a trio that make up a band I am absolutely in love with. Barcelona is one of those underground bands that doesn't necessarily fit the stereotype of what a "band" is supposed to sound like. I mean some people would call them and indie rock band, but even that is not necessarily the most accurate description of Barcelona's sound. See, a lot of their music tends to follow the lines of synth pop and indie pop and a more transcendent kind of sound. That is actually one of my favorite things about Barcelona. Their music has a sound that can take you to a different state of being, a different state of thinking and feeling. And that is something so special and amazing. Barcelona's vocals usually tend to be more vulnerable and gentle and soft. There is a sense of passion and longing and even a little bit of sensuality. Barcelona also sounds just as good live as they do in recordings. I actually couldn't tell the difference between the...

Future and Drake

Image
Today I have some music from the rap side of the spectrum. It dawned on me that I have completely neglected that area of music for a while now, and that I have had this particular song stuck in my head for a while. So this song is by Future, an artist who recently has begun to see a lot more popularity. Now the biggest thing about Future is that he speaks a language all of his own. As in, no one else but Future understands Future. In almost all of his songs, I have no idea what he is saying. Which normally would irritate me a little, but I have to hand it to Future, he knows how to make some really catchy music. This song is ridiculously catchy. The song has a great beat to it, something that would go really well at a club or bar. It has enough of a sound to be something people can dance to, but is also laid back enough to be something you just kind of listen to while hanging out. Future uses this laser like sound every few bars, which punctuates the song and adds this sense of intens...
