Breaking Benjamin and X Men: First Class

Image
Today I have some heavy rock music for you all. It has been an extremely long time since I have posted music like this, so it may be a nice change for you! I know it was for me, especially because this song definitely seemed to capture my mood for part of the day. This is one of the most popular songs by the band Breaking Benjamin. A lot of people have heard this song, and many fell in love with it. For me, it is easy to see why this would be so popular amongst all age groups. For one, the overall sound is one that is very full and very rock. There aren't any moments in the song where the musicality feels empty or incomplete. Everything sounds perfectly in sync, with the drums and the guitar providing an incredible base structure for the vocals. Which brings me to my next point. Benjamin Burnley has such a powerful and gritty and rough voice that I can't help but love them! And to be quite honest, it is a little bit sexy. This is a song that mixes heavy hard rock dynamics with ...

Foxy Shazam and Ozzy Osbourne

Image
Today I have some music for you by a band that is definitely way under the radar, but is a a wild one! Foxy Shazam is just as out there as their name is. I did have the experience of seeing them perform live, and holy hell it was a ride! These guys know how to play their instruments and sing well live, but they also know how to really perform. For them, it isn't enough to be able to play their songs live. There is a certain amount of theatricality that goes along with their shows and videos. But you can even hear it in the music. Foxy Shazam does have a certain dramatic flair in their actual music, from the braying brass to the jingling bells. It all has this Broadway-esque feeling to it, but is something that is so completely captivating. This song is actually one of my favorites by them. To be totally honest, I don't remember when I first heard their music. But I am so glad I did because it is such a cool kind of sound. I love how the song opens up with the ticking clock and ...

Adventure Club and Truth

Image
Today I have music for you by Adventure Club. I actually love Adventure Club. They are definitely a lesser known electronic duo which is kind of saddening, but it also gives me the opportunity to spread their awesomeness to you all! The thing about Adventure Club is that every song sounds totally different. A lot of time with electronic artists, you get really good songs, but you also get songs that sound the same when you play them against each other. But with Adventure Club, you can't do that kind of comparison because each song is so uniquely different compared to the rest. I love that though! I think that variability gives the duo a chance to produce the music they want with no limitations of boundaries. They don't have a formula that they follow, and produce what feels and sounds good to them. And that is why I love pretty much every song by them. I think one of the characteristics that really stands out to me with Adventure Club is that they like to use higher pitched voc...

Phantogram and Epic Score

Image
Today's song is by the Amercian duo known as Phantogram. The first time I ever heard one of their songs was on Teen Wolf (don't judge) I heard one of their songs and decided to check out the rest of their music. Anyway, I really like the way they combine a rock beat with synth melodies and electronic support. Its really cool how they can combine the two so flawlessly. This song is just so cool with a great bass and its almost hypnotic. Today's instrumental song is from Epic Score. Everything about this song is just spot on and absolutely phenomenal. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Active Child and The Hobbit

Image
Today's song is by the artist known as Active Child. This is probably one of the most unique things I have heard. I have a feeling a lot of you are going to feel the same way because this is just so different and I love that! This group relies very heavily on the harp which is unlike any other group I have ever heard. Not only do they use a harp, but the vocals take on a very soft but strong tone. There are points in the song when the singer hits his high notes and it is absolutely beautiful! For a band like Active Child, the melody of the song is everything. The lyrics do matter of course, but this is a song that is created for us to feel. The melody and harmonies and blending of the two is what really makes us feel things, and that is what makes Active Child so spectacular. And of course, I cannot stress how cool the harp is enough/ Definitely a group worth looking into much deeper. Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Hobbit. This has a very similar yet different ...

The Chainsmokers and Jack U

Image
Today I have music for you by The Chainsmokers. These guys had a popular song a couple of years ago, and have been working on some new stuff since. Well this song is one of those! As usual, they don't disappoint whatsoever. Normally The Chainsmokers have dirtier music, but this one takes a walk on the chillstep side of things. Which I am so down with because they do a really good job of making this a song that is both chilled out but also has this slight pop feel to it. I wouldn't necessarily call this house or anything, but there is this new kind of delicateness to this song, not something we have heard from The Chainsmokers in a long time. But the thing is, that delicateness is juxtaposed with a slightly edgier drop. It isn't a trap drop or a dubstep drop, but something unlike anything I have heard. I don't even know what genre to put this song in because it goes across a lot of different sounds, but at the end of the day, it is a really nice transcendent kind of song...

Hellogoodbye and The 1975

Image
Today I have music by a group out of California called Hellogoodbye. This group has been around for a while now but have kind of laid low. I really enjoy this song because it has a very chill sound to it. I won't lie, this song reminds me of The 1975 because it is a very similar style. But it is also still very much like Hellogoodbye. It has that heavy bass presence and calm energy. This is one of those songs that have that pumped up feel to it but it is not necessarily happy. I don't know, I just really love this song and how the drum beat in the background is like a wonderful heartbeat along with the soft electric guitar in the background. I first heard this song when I was going through this really intense phase of indie rock music, and this is one that I had to listen to everyday. On repeat. I am firm believer that every song gives off a different vibe and energy, and I love the one that I get with this song. This is something that makes me think of so many things at once, ...
