Today I have some music for you by an underground rapper by the name Andy Mineo. I think the easiest way to describe Andy Mineo's style is to call him a mix of Kanye West and Childish Gambino. Of course individually, both of those artists are phenomenal and excel in their craft. But put them together and you get some wicked cool music! Andy Mineo absolutely nails the whole idea of "rap" music. He has every characteristic of a good rap song, and one that could get very big very fast. Now the reason I picked Childish Gambino as a point of reference is because of the way Andy Mineo raps. His style is very similar to Childish. Andy Mineo gets clever with his lyrics and he likes play on the words he uses. But at the same time, his lyrics have meaning to them beyond the general rap topics of sex, drugs, alcohol, and money. Today I have some wicked new music for you. Audien is an electronic artist that I really can't get enough of. Every one of his songs has been a hit for me. He knows how to make a wide variety of house music wish is absolutely amazing. There is this great melody, buildup and climax in every song and each one sounds different. This song features Lady Antebellum. Now who would have thought a country band and an EDM artist would go together? I mean Avicii did it with a lot of style and skill. But it is different when working with a band like Lady Antebellum. This is a band that already has an established style, a specific sound that they emulate with each and every song and album they put out. Today I have such an incredibly amazing song for you all! I am actually extremely excited to show you this one because it combines two incredible artists and genres. This song is by 30 Seconds To Mars and Afrojack and oh my word it is one of the most epic collaborations ever! Both of these artists are just phenomenal and this music video is brilliantly synced to both the song and the distinctive style between these two geniuses. I am so proud to see how far one of my favorite bands has come since A Beautiful Lie and I am so impressed with their effervescent nature even after almost 16 years. Nice choice Afrojack! Today I have some slower, more acoustic sounds for you. This first song is a more popular one by Ben Rector, and its one of my favorites by him. This song has so much emotion poured into the writing, composition, and melodies. His voice is so soothing and is able to really make you feel what he is feeling. I love how simply moving and beautiful and calming this song is. Today's instrumental song is from the movie French Kiss. I love the harp work that is happening and the soft wind solos. Today's song is by the cool, suave, and sick duo known as Disclosure. Sorry for the lack of posting last night, but exciting news, I was travelling! Currently in San Francisco, a place that has some of the coolest music, especially when it comes to street artists. But there is also quite the electronic crowd out here, so I thought to post one of those kinds of songs. This song has such a great beat and almost a groove feel to it. To top it off, it features Mary J Blige who is a queen in the music world. This song is just so catchy and bumping, its hard to not like this song! This song is so brilliant with the mix of funk and and R&B voice while incorporating the usual electronic style of Disclosure. Purely awesome! Today's instrumental song is by Cedric Gervais. Today I have a song for you by a band called The Oh Hello's. When I heard this song for the first time, I was positively transfixed. This song is so calm and soft when the first guitar strums are heard and then it escalates into a very sweet ballad that is emotion evoking. And through all the power in the song, it retains a sense of tranquility and soft grace. The acoustic guitar is so gentle and serene and it creates a beautiful compliment to the male vocals and harmonies. This song is just so incredible and I can see this being in an indie film because it fits so well. Its one of those songs that you can listen to when its raining and just turn your face up to the sky and smile. Today's instrumental song is from Teen Wolf. Today I have some music for you that is a little bit of a mix of things. To be more specific, more of a remix of things. This song is originally by Sam Smith, and artist who is known for this incredible R&B vocals and higher vocal range. However, this remix is done by Flume, one of the EDM and remixing gods. What I love about Flume's work is that he knows how to make a lot happen without making it seem so. There are so many different things happening in this song but you can't tell. He makes everything seem so flawless. From the initial opener to the first minor bass drop, there are so many different things happening! The song starts out very Flume-like, with the lengthened out melodies and harmonies. But then we get to Sam Smith's vocalization and that has a nice synth undertone to prop up his vocals and somehow accentuate them.
