Atlas Genius and Lord of the Rings

Image
Today's song is one of my favorites by the band Atlas Genius. Everything about this song is perfectly balanced from the vocals to the synths to the usual band instruments. They have the Phoenix like dance style but throw in their own flourish that makes it have this cool funky sound. I also love the tone of the vocals because they are soft and lack an aggressive sound but they also have this calm intensity which I find really nice. The soft guitar work at the beginning, providing a nice underlying melody, is really perfect too. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Lord of the Rings. Not only were these movies incredible, but the soundtrack that accompanies them is also absolutely phenomenal. For those of you who do not know, Sir Christopher Lee passed away, the man who played roles that made him an iconic villain. He also is the man who played Saruman in all Lord of The Rings and Hobbit movies. May he rest in peace and we thank him for all the creativity and wonder and l...

Arijit Singh and The Princess Bride

Today I have some Indian music for you, especially since it has been a while since I have posted anything foreign. This is one of my absolute favorite songs, and in one of the best new releases of the year. Now, this is not your typical dance style Bollywood song, nor is it the kind of song that makes you want to cry. This is a special kind of song, one that Bollywood seems to have gotten down to an art form. This is the kind of song that makes your heart soar, the kind of song that makes you think of the person you hold most dear to your heart. This is the kind of song that makes you want to smile uncontrollably because you can't stop thinking about all the happy and wonderful and incredible times you have had with your significant other. This is a song that boasts those warm feelings, the kind that make you feel free and liberated, but also grounded and secure. This song is just so mind blowingly beautiful. Think of the happiest, the greatest day of your life. This song is one th...

Panic! At the Disco and Jumper

Image
Today's song is by a band that released a new album last year, and has done really well. Panic! At the Disco seems to always create songs that have this unique energy to it, a primal desire mixed with creativity and lack of boundaries. Each song, on this album especially, has a specific message. What is even better is that each message addresses an issue that everyone has had at some point. This song especially has a strong message that almost everyone can relate to. I love this band and can't wait to see them! Today's instrumental song is from the movie Jumper. I for one found the concept of this movie extremely intriguing. This movie features some familiar faces, such as Hayden Christensen, Jamie Bell, and a small performance by Kristen Stewart. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Jon Bellion and Big Hero 6

Image
Today I have music for you by an R&B artist by the name Jon Bellion. I won't lie, I am not necessarily a fan of all of his work, but I definitely do respect his style of music and production. Jon Bellion has a nice smooth voice that can be used in R&B situations, but contains hints of a slightly emo band kind of sound. He has a higher vocal range than other artists, but it kind of suits the way his music is. Jon Bellion is an artist that juxtaposes a lot. For example, with this song, we get his lovely and soft voice to create a nice kind of atmosphere. In fact, his voice kind of reminds me of Owl City's. However the lyrical content of the song is more about depression and hitting rock bottom. The background is a happier and brighter kind of indie sound, something that doesn't really go along with the lyrics in the song. But somehow, Jon Bellion makes it work. Jon Bellion's work is more breathy and airy, and even though a lot of the musical accompaniment is the p...

Florence & the Machine and Defiance

Image
Today I have music for you by one of the most incredibly talented artists of recent years and our generation. Florence and the Machine is a group that has so much to offer. Florence Welch has one of the most unique and fantastic voices I have ever heard. She is an absolute powerhouse, with the ability to belt out those high notes and fill them with so much strength and sound. And then we have songs like this where we get to hear more of her softer side. We get to hear more of her emotional side and vulnerability because she held back. Florence Welch is also quite an artist in all sense of the term. Not only is the music production itself phenomenal, but the depth of her songs can sometime overwhelm me. She is a true artist in the sense that her creativity and artistic nature is not limited to just her music. Florence Welch becomes a poet when penning her lyrics. She becomes a filmmaker and director when she decides to make a music video. She becomes an actress while filming her videos....

Wiley and Mohombi

Image
Today's song is by English grime rapper Wiley. This is the first song I heard by him, and I absolutely loved it! The rapping has a fantastic beat with a very Caribbean/Latin American sound to it. I have to say, he reminds me of Sean Paul! This is the kind of song that is meant to be energetic and fun rather than deep and meaningful. I won't lie, the lyrics are a little sparse in terms of actually being deep and thought provoking. However, this is the kind of song you would want to hear when you are at a pool party or hanging out on the beach or doing something totally fun and wild. It has that infectious osund and rhythm that makes you want to move and dance along to it. While I can't say anything else in terms of what this song makes you feel, I can tell you that this would be a great song to add to your summer playlist. Everything that goes with the vibe of a beach summer, is heard and felt in this song. I think that is pretty sick! Today's instrumental song is by Moh...

Nicky Romero & Krewella and Steve Aoki

Image
Today's song is a really good dance tune/hardcore jamming song. This is a collaboration done by two very talented artists, Nicky Romero and Krewella. There aren't any songs by these two artists that I dislike which is so freaking awesome! The drops are awesome and the throbbing bass is phenomenal. This song has sick written all over it, especially with the meshed sounds and vibes that make these two artists so different. Today's instrumental song is by the craziest DJ out there, Steve Aoki. Not only is his music brilliant, but he is one crazy guy. A perfect combination! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
